I really hate what they did to Stannis's character, he was an honest and honorable guy that was doing what he thought was right.
In 2 episodes he became a shitty, power hungry, child killing POS and then died.
I actually hope the book is different than the show

I doubt it will be much different
It's a classic "power corrupts" storyline

An honest and honorable guy that denounced whatever religion he had just so he could get some red pussy. Also stood by while she killed his maester and had Davos locked up in the dungeons just because.

So I guess Robert's bastards are all that remains of the Baratheon line after tonight... Good news for Gendry, or more like bad news.

Wasted your time? So that would all of a sudden make all those hours spent reading the books and watching the show not entertaining and interesting? Not likely.
There's been a lot of pages focused on building Jon up to be something that he's not on the surface through his chapters as well as the chapters of others (i.e. the wargings, the resurrections, the speculation of his parents, etc).
Yes, it would have been a waste. Still enjoyable to read, but he could've filled those pages with story telling that actually reinforces the overall arc.

If Snow is permanently dead, then I'm betting the only overall arc will turn out to be the Others running roughshod over Westeros killing everyone, and GRRM giving all of his book readers a big

It's almost insulting we're actually debating if Jon is coming back or not.

You gotta give props to the show runners for how they played it. It worked perfectly. They did the impossible

Yeah rewatching I'm not so sure Stannis is dead. His final words "do your duty" probably saved him.
It's not like this show to NOT show a major death on screen.

How are the book readers in full meltdown? We've known this ending for how long?

Because we've seen them change enough shite in the show that we put nothing past killing Jon Snow off for good.
Posted on 6/14/15 at 10:25 pm to BluegrassBelle
Was anyone else sitting there anxiously waiting for Jon's eyes to roll back in his head?

Like I said he's not permanently dead. Anyone who thinks so is retarded.
There's Always a method to GRRM's madness when it comes to actual deaths.

I was waiting for the warg moment.
Maybe that'll be the opening for next season.

What? Why would that save him from someone that's been trying to kill him for 4 seasons?
If Trant would've muttered "do your duty", do you think Arya would've given him mercy?

Her duty being save Sansa, not kill Stannis?

With all the discussion about Jon and Stannis, here's a thought that we may be overlooking:
What if either A) Bron kept some of that antidote or, more likely B) That tit showing Sand Snake slipped him some of it when she was nibbling on his ear?
Definitely seemed to be the same poison - with the bleeding from the nose and all.

still think he'll be revived but...

I was talking to Dan Weiss and he said Jon is really dead. But George R.R. Martin left open the possibility the character might not be dead in the books. And then that cast salary contract story came out last year and it had your name among those receiving raises for season six and an option on a seventh. So let me ask you: Is Jon really dead?
This is my understanding of it. I had a sit-down with Dan and David, we did the Tony Soprano walk [letting an actor know they’re being whacked]. And they said, “Look, you’re gone, it’s done.” And as far as the salary thing goes, that angered me when that story came out. I don’t know where it came from, but it was inaccurate in many ways. It’s going to put questions into your head and into fans’ heads that things are not what they are. Quite honestly, I have never been told the future of things in this show, but this is the one time I have. They sat me down and said, “This is how it is.” If anything in the future is not like that, then I don’t know about it – it’s only in David and Dan and George’s heads. But I’ve been told I’m dead. I’m dead. I’m not coming back next season. So that’s all I can tell you, really.

Me. That was such a long sequence I thought it was for sure going to happen
