Mind=blown

I'm curious as well. I thought it was a pretty good episode and moved some storylines forward too.

Seems like Jamie jumped right back on his redemption track after last week
Might be needed to show a disconnect between he and cersei.

I can't believe they revealed the Night's King.

If you count the baby then that makes 14 total white walkers. 14 fires of Valyria.

When are they going to show the Mountain again? I felt sure that this season they'd use the Arya and the Hound to make the Mountain seem more fearful again, but they really haven't. They've brought him up, but I doubt half the Hodors remember who he is.

Good question. They can do it quickly though, I mean they brought up Dontos in one episode. I bet he arrives in kings landing next episode though.

Okay, I'm about to watch it now. Jeez. I read the thread first, lol
Spoiled myself.
Looks like it won't follow the books.

I'm confused on how the two relate though. I am not sure that the night's king and the great other are one in the same. The night's king was a stark of winterfell, brother to the king in the north, and was Lord Commander AFTER the wall was built. Obviously this tells us that the great other was already out there.
All we are told about the night's king is that he basically fell in love with an other and "when he gave her his seed he also gave his soul". We also know that his name was Bran. We don't even know that he became an other. Thirteen years later, the king beyond the wall and the king in the north overthrew his small kingdom at the night fort.
Given what we know I'm saying the great other, who we saw tonight, is not the nights king. The great other is also a god, and has existed since way before the wall was built.
It is interesting that there are 13, I'm just not sure the number is significant to the plot. 13 is also often associated with evil or bad luck, so maybe it just seemed like the appropriate number. There were also 10 stones around the alter, we aren't drawing conclusions from that though.

What about the other babies that were sacrificed?

The 13 is a hint to confirm to readers that he is indeed the Night's King. Hbo later on confirmed it for everyone on the show synopsis

Of course there are more white walkers. The 13 and 14 was just a nod to readers as to who it was we were seeing and their relation to the series

Episode was good not great
I despise Dany but seeing the Targaryen banner was pretty cool.
Locke is going to get captured by the others.

If you are familiar with the wiki of ice and fire then you know who Ran is. He created westeros.org and co-authored TWOIAF with GRRM and helps GRRM with keeping up a database for GRRM to fact check himself quickly. He just posted this on awoiaf:
"Well, color me surprised. While I did speculate the figure _might_ be a king, and even noted the 13 figures, I didn't think some random yahoo at HBO writing up their viewer's guide would insert the idea that it's _the_ Night's King.
It is always possible that whoever wrote the guide has taken extra-textual license, and this may end up changing if that detail was not what was intended (or at least was not intended to be revealed). Will be interesting to see if it changes in the next few days."
