I have a question that I might have to take to the general board but I'm curious how long passed between Jamie killing the Mad King and Robert and Ned taking KL. And who "ruled" during that time.

Jamie killing the mad king and Robert taking Kings Landing was all the same thing I believe, Roberts Rebellion.

So Robert and Ned walked into the throne room and jamie stabbed the Mad King as a result and then Robert took the throne? Like same day?

ETA: I only read the 1st two books and that's how I understand it. There was obviously a lot more fighting going on than just that but that is the jist of it

Yeah it was the same day
ETA: technically Jamie couldn't have taken the Iron Throne because he was sworn to the King's Guard but technically he shouldn't have slain the king either

more like jamie killed the king and sat on the throne waiting for his dad, and then ned and robert showed up a bit later
tywinn lannister "took" KL (that's when the mountain killed the kids and split the queen in half, after raping her) after he told the mad king that he and his armies were coming to KL to help (he was previously the hand, but the king pissed him off and tywinn hauled arse back to casterly rock for a while)

I would love to know how Greyjoy/Reek got broken. Because I just don't see how he didn't slit his throat when he was shaving him. Especially after he heard that Robert was killed and that they were gonna kill Bran.
