Bottom line is that from the point that Joffrey poured the wine over Tyrion's head until Joffrey took the drink that killed him, only Sansa, Joffrey and Tyrion touched the cup.
ETA: my bad. The cup is off screen for the pie cutting scene and he went back and drank from it. It was in front of grandma while off screen,

But as glad as I am to see him go, it sucks too because he was SUCH an awesome character to hate. I'll actually miss cursing at that shitstain.

I can't wait to see what nice guy role Jack Gleeson does next to show people he's not really Joffrey IRL.
i think he said he's retiring from acting b/c of the role and all the irl hate he's gotten

I'm still in the Tyrells did it camp this morning for all the reasons I posted last night. Plus I also think there will be something to make of the convo last night when Old Lady Tyrell mentioned the Iron Bank again. I think that could come into play even though I'm still not really sure who or what exactly that is.

Good point about Sansa..I added her to my list of potential suspects.

Agreed. Like him or not, he's an awesome character. Things like this show need people you can flat out hate, and he was great at it.

I'll believe that when me shite turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet, but that is really (REALLY) sad if true. People are such idiots.

Honestly I think it might have been Sansa. She was zoned out when they were making a mockery of Ned and it does appear that she may have slipped something in that cup. Don't know how she could have planned it though.
I thought she was going to kill him before I saw the episode. Heard KJ died before I watched the show and when she zoned out I thought she was about to slit his throat right there. Which would have been more gratifying but she would not have gotten away with it. I'm thinking she did it if not the grandma.

The Iron Bank of Braavos is basically the world bank, and K'sL (and the Lannisters) basically owe the bank tens of millions of dollars. Check this quote from Tyrion when he took over as Master of Coin:
quote:
"Anyway, it's not my father I'm worried about. It's the Iron Bank of Braavos. We owe them tens of millions. If we fail to pay these millions, the Bank will fund our enemies. One way or another, they always get their gold."
So Olenna Tyrell dropping Iron Bank hints could definitely mean something in regards to Joffrey. No question.

Yeah. There was quite a bit of lead up to it with various conversations and what seemed to be random scenes. Hopefully we find out who did it next week and it doesn't drag on. Money is on the old lady. I do wonder if Marjory was in on it or not. She seemed like she kept moving things along, although it may have just been due to Joffrey being his usual douche self.

I'm assuming everyone noticed the dragon shadow over King's Landing in Bran's visions, right?

I knew this was coming (spoiled) and sooner rather than later in this season. I've now had spoiled the conspirator(s) - so I will remain silent on that part of it.
I think it had to happen - as it would be too easy for Dany to gin up a rebellion against Joffrey.
I'm now concerned about Tyrion's fate - by far the only good "person" of any authority in King's Landing, and he's on the hook for the murder at this time - doesn't bode well. I guess it will rest on whether or not Tywin believes him, as he should fully reassert himself at this point.
If Oberyn is actually there to take out Tywin, that could really throw the Red Keep into chaos - because Cersei in charge, without Tywin, would be as bad (in some ways, worse) than Joffrey - as she will likely not listen even to Jamie at this point.

For those that haven't had a chance to re watch the sequence, here is a step by step breakdown of the cup:
The cup goes from being poured over Tyrion's head to being dropped and kicked over towards Sansa. Sansa picks it up and hands it to Tyrion. Tyrion refills it from a flask that was in front of Cercie. Joffrey takes a drink and sits it in front of Olenna (old lady). Joffrey then goes to cut the pie and while he does that the cup is off camera. After cutting the pie, he goes back up and makes Tyrion get the cup and Joffrey downs the wine. That's when the poison kicks in.

I believe it was the wine, but I am not ruling out the pie as poisoned (his piece) just yet.

Joffery's death leaves a hole in the show, for sure. The one thing that unites everyone is a common enemy.
It will be interesting to see who steps up to take the role of public enemy #1 in the eyes of the audience.

There had to been a dozen pieces of the pie carried to tables between Joffrey cutting it and the poison kicking in. The pie went around. I guess the writers could do whatever they want but having one piece be poisoned on a huge pie seems a stretch.

They can create a new monster just as quickly as they create new fan favorites... All lanisters have the power to be cruel without consequence. People who haven't been introduced yet. Other kings/kings families/etc.

Whomever handed it to him could've easily poisoned it. He didn't cut it and serve himself, right? All he did was hit the pie and release the doves.

Well, Cersei is still alive.

FWIW I think it was either Cersie or Olenna. The Martell's seem like to obvious a choice but there's also the saying when you hear hoofbeats think horses not zebras.

Couldn't it have been Sansa herself? Maybe she knew about the poison necklace and dropped the gem/poison in when she picked Joffrey's wine glass up for Tyrion when he was looking for it under the table.
