Also, is Stannis's main plotline next season going to be going to the Wall/won't reach it till episode 9 or 10? That's a long way from where he is now.

I am still think that they show some of the book 4 story lines next season. They don't need 10 episodes to finish the book but i also ate some crow pie cause of np PW.

As for Dany, this is what I think the show writers should do in order to alleviate the Mereeneese debacle without taking away from everyone else's awesome stories:

Don't show her every damn episode. Diminish her story to like a Theon level. Show her in maybe 5 of the 10 episodes. She doesn't need to be in every one of them. And at this point, everyone else's storylines next season are going to be wayyyyy more significant. I was surprised they introduced the Night's Watch letter with Stannis this early, but yeah, that story should take precedence over Dany fricking Daario and all that.

Dany's storyline is going to be brutal next season unless the producers really spin her story into something interesting.

I think ending the season with Dany was a big mistake and would much rather have seen coldhands, zombie cat, Joff choking. I even think ending it with Arya killing someone could have been powerful (or Jon getting hit with an arrow)... Obviously from a reader standpoint we were going to hate the ending bc we know the Dany buildup is leading to nothing. What is the consensus with the non-readers? Did they like ending it with the Dany crowd surf? I get what the producers were trying to do with the scene I just don't think it translated well.

I mean she has slaves now BUILD SOME frickIN BOATS.

They are free people, not slaves . They are following her out of their own free will (and cause if they don't they either become slaves again since they probably don't know any other way of life). Totally different. You don't just order free people to build boats like the ones you were offered 4 episodes ago and turned your nose at!

I thought the Bran thing was explained well throughout the season. Jojen has hammered home that Bran is the most important person right now, big things are ahead of him, etc etc. He wasn't headed to the wall to find Jon, he was headed north of the wall to find the 3-eyed crow this whole journey. It's a "destiny" kind of thing driving him. Hell this episode itself it was said in so many words that he might be the only one that can stop the invasion.

At least they incorporated one of Patchface's songs into the show with Shireen.

I get that, but the fact that they wrote Patchface out of the show tells me he is not important. At this point in the books, we (at least I am) are still wondering if he is something more than the village idiot.

they didn't like the glorious Jesus-ness of it. calling her Dany of Nazareth. GoT viewers like the blood power and chaos, not happy feel good stuff.

I never viewed patchface as anything more than a foreshadowing tool. Coldhands, however, seems pretty important.

maybe it's just me but they keep hinting really strongly that Tyrion isn't actually a Lannister.

I don't think he is. I think Tywin was cuckolded and calls him a Lannister just so people wouldn't find out. Also would not be surprised to learn that his wife didn't "die in childbirth" but that Tywin axed her for cheating. If Tyrion is the progeny of Aerys and Joanna watch out. We know Aerys liked to frick around and probably would have banged Tywin's wife just to rub it in Tywin's face again...and we know the dragon has three heads.

Oh, and as for the episode agree that we should have gotten coldhands, Catelyn being pulled from river, Balon dying or all of the above...though if Balon died, everyone would know Joff was getting axed with the quickness next season.
