5 is concurrent with 4 so TV season 4 will have bits from three different books

Right. But I was wondering if any of the Harpy stuff was in book *3*. I'm thinking not - perhaps we first hear about it at the start of book 5?

What's all this "Tyrion is a Targ" stuff? I've never heard this theory. what's the basis? We've never seen anything suggesting that in the Tyrion POV chapters, have we?

- Arya was ok but not close to the Tickler episode with the "where is Lord Dondrion, where is the gold hidden "
Because it wasn't supposed to be the Tickler scene. That was the scene from when she escaped Harrenhal (except not slashing the throat).

The "where's the gold?" scene will be in season 4.

Interesting. Don't know that I buy it. But interesting.

A funny thing here is that when I first saw the theory offered, and saw the word "Targ", my mind registered "Warg" and that's what REALLY threw me! lol and then the talk of Tyrion and dragons, and his dreaming about dragons, I was thinking it was about his putting his mind into dragons!

Tyron a Warg - that's totally whacky. Tyron a Targ, not the craziest of theories! :^)

he didn't dream about roasting a small child at any point, did he?

i can't remember if he dreams about seeing dragons or dreams about being a dragon.

As Genna Lannister puts it, Tyrion is Tywin's true son, not Jaime. To have it be any other way would do injustice to both characters. I hope very much that you are wrong.

I agree with this but that does mean he has to be tywin trueborn. That was one of my favorite lines in the series. The Tywin/Tyrion is my favorite relationship so much hate covered by an unspoken respect.

he is also enamored by dragons and Targ history. he used to read books about them all the time as a child in Casterly Rock. The Targs are his heroes, not his family

Additionally, we saw Varys trying to bribe Shae to leave and putting a lot of emphasis on how important Tyrion is to Westeros. Could tie into where Varys' true loyalties lie.

Reading the books I didn't buy into Tyrion as a Targ. But the show seems to he really pushing that he's at the very least not a Lannister.

The hints have been there from the first book. Martin may well be sitting back reading the heated online debates and laughing his arse off at his troll work, but we're not reading something in that isn't there. The text has very deliberately and repeatedly suggested that Tyrion is a Targ. It doesn't mean that he is for certain, though.

And I think there's a distinct possibility that Martin hasn't decided if he is or isn't.
