I really don't like their choice for Roose Bolton. He's not even slightly intimidating
Wasn't Roose portrayed as pale white with leeches on his body? I don't think it is physical appearance that is intimidating. It his soft way of talking, knowing he could flay a person at any moment that is frightening. Those are the ones to be truly feared.

Question: trying to fit in how his character progressed again. At this point is he planning anything, or does his character change at the death of Robb to take advantage of the situation. Basically, what part does he play in the red wedding? I forget.
He actually is the one that kills Robb
"Jamie lannister sends his regards"

I never thought of him as intimidating physically, just smart, cruel, and dangerous.
I never thought of him as physically intimidating either, just someone who can stare you down and know you're fricked.

Oh, I think I was so shocked when it happened I had no idea what was going on. I just remember the crossbow bolts. Not so much who was firing them.

He stabbed him while Robb was reeling from the crossbow bolts

Yeah he's supposed to be very soft spoken, not outgoing, not in the limelight. He's calm, deliberate, and to the point. He doesn't bring attention to himself in the book. I think that's why I like the character the picked.

I always imagine him to look like Le Chiffre from Casino Royale, except both eyes are pale and he has much longer hair.

Honestly, that's pretty much exactly what I imagined him as. Long hair, pale eyes, and that creepy quiet stare.

Why did they change Jeyne Westerlings name? I always thought that was odd

I was wondering that the other day as well. I think the fact that the Westerlings are bannermen to House Lannister is an important fact (not essential - but it develops the story).

They have just followed the book sooo close that it seems very odd they would change her name.

Yea, I was wtf'ing right there.

I hope they slip it in somewhere. It is an important part of his character imo.

I vaguely remember thinking it would confuse non-book readers.

Especially because it would have no impact on production or timing. Just change the name.

lol wut.
Her name now is way more confusing than "Jayne Westerling."

Doesn't Roose also intentionally lose a battle to the Lannisters costing Robb tons of loyal soldiers and causing many other Northern lords to go back home?
I seem to remember him being slow to send in his troops for support and then retreating as slow as possible so that the rearguard could be slaughtered.

There's a lot on that part of the story that's changed. I don't remember if they found the obsidian last season, but not going with an actual fight scene was lame. Also, didn't Sam release the birds in the book?
