I couldn't reach new heights of laziness as the book store didn't have the second volume in stock, so I went with Game of Thrones and will trudge through it before the next.
Amazon had all 4 books for $20 a couple of weeks ago. I'm not sure if they still do.
Too impatient to wait for it in the mail, even if the shipping is quick as I won't be in NOLA much longer. And I can't wait another year to find out what happens and just found it easier to buy Game of Thrones.

it's revealed in clash of kings that cercei and Lancel are fricking.
The show spoiled that for me
About 20 pages beyond where I stopped reading Saturday I ran into that revelation in Clash.
The impact of the finale: I saw it put best in an article last night. The big hitting finale was episode 9 with Ned's sore neck. Episode 10 set up season 2. The book definitely put much more surprise in the dragons popping up, but as someone said, it had been like half a book since you heard anything about the eggs.

Someone get the doucheman to call HBO and tell them to cut that shite out, or at least put spoiler warnings in the show.

I think people who say the finale wasn't as epic as they hoped it would be are only focusing on the ending. A TON of gamechangers occurred in this episode:
1) Robb is declared King of the North
2) Tyrion is told by Tywin to rule as acting Hand of the King
3) The Night's Watch is taking a strong force beyond the Wall.
4) Arya is headed to the Wall with who we assume to be Robert's bastard
5) And of course, there are dragons. Plus, Daenerys loses her son and the Khal.
This episode sets a lot of stuff into motion and should have everyone pretty excited about Season 2.

Danerys' character has made probably the most major transition this season, from a girl being cowed and basically used/abused by her older brother to the khaleesi who had to figure out her place as a stranger in a strange land to the mother of the stallion who mounts the world and wife of Khal Drogo to the Mother of Dragons. It was interesting to watch and very well done. As everyone has said, it was perhaps portrayed better in the books, esp the final epic scene (the show did give the impression almost of a suicidal gesture of Dany walking into the pyre to be with her Khal forever whereas with the book, she just refused to flinch from the fire as it grew stronger and others backed away, she stood her ground, because fire cannot harm the dragon, and it burned off her hair and clothes, but not *her* and she became Danerys, the Unburnt, and when the Dragons hatched and nursed from her, she was quite LITERALLY the mother of Dragons) but it has set up next season beautifully. I can't wait but can't believe it's going to be SO LONG until it starts... and I just finished book 4 last week! Thank goodness book 5 comes out next month, but after that, I don't know what I am gonna do...

You join the rest of us in the speculation over at Westeros.org . It is almost as much fun as reading the series. Also, rereads.

had the previous episode not ended with Ned going PEZ dispenser on us, I'm sure it'd wouldve been a bit better received
but when you compare the two endings, the dragon thing was a bit of a letdown, and frankly alot of us kinda saw that coming
Had they ended season 1 with Ned's death scene, I think the hype going into S02 would've been a tidal wave
totally agree with you
Danerys and John Snow...any chance John will leave the wall to join his brother and meet Danerys and they hook up?

I went back and watched the season all over again...5 episodes anyway.
I wanted Khal Drogo to live. I was just beginning to like him. I LOVE me so Emilia Clarke like most of you do. God, she is hot and she looks nothing like her character in real life. Amazing what blonde can do to a girl.

the only problem with that is when you have been a member there as long as I have you read the same theories 100+ times each with just one small difference. In between books there are hardly any new ideas occurring, it's only just after the books release for about a year that the board is worth the time I find.

Nice summary. I like the way they concluded the season in episode 10. As you point out it sets up a lot to think about and look forward to in next season. Unless you had read the books, concluding with Ned's death would have left out a lot of interesting events leading up to season 2.

i just wished they had shown the dragons nursing from her tit.

I thought that was a really really weird part of the book, it doesn't bother me that they left it out I really didn't need to see it

you are begging for spoilers. You do know that the Wall and where Dany is(across the sea) are very far apart right? He can't just abandon his post and ride a horse to where she is and vice versa. And Rob is basically smack dab in the very center/middle of the Westeros continent.

Yeah it was, she had milk streaming/leaking from her tits just before that as well.

I accidentally stumbled upon the future king and his queen and I think it is frickin perfect.. Idk anything other than what has happened in the show.. so I'm not sure how it all goes down or how much further in the story it is but I wanna get the books to find out.

I really hope this show earns some awards. It was very well done. I just finished the first book and I'm ready to start the second, but I promised myself I'd finish Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer before that. I'm really eager to find out what happens with Bran. Total speculation on my part, but I think he gets into something pretty big.

I haven't seen an Emmy award, favorites list yet that didn't have Peter Dinklage nominated. You know, cuz I've seen two.

I could have sworn the first dragon we saw pulled its head from her tit to look at Ser Mormont.
