Galaxy Quest: Retrospective/Review

Very interesting stuff
One thing I found interesting was that Tim Allen wasn't even close to their first choice, and that his casting led to Harold Ramis leaving the movie (though on amicable terms). Some of the people offered prior to Allen makes me wonder how that movie would have gone, but it's hard to imagine it would have been better - the movie is damn near perfect.
The studio was also wary of Rickman (worried he was too serious an actor) and Weaver (apparently they had a policy to not hire people who had already been in sci-fi before - weird).
Weaver apparently was the one who insisted on the blond wig and push-up bra, and admitted she felt like a different person with it on (basically saying that she felt her IQ drop a few points with it on).
Fun stuff. I like this particular channel and the insight it gives into movies.

I laughed my arse off in the theater. I remember being dragged to it somewhat against my will and ended up being the best movie I had seen in awhile. Casting was perfect, can't imagine anyone else in the lead role.

Arguably the best Star Trek movie ever made.

Well, as far as space farces go, I like "Galaxy Quest" and also Mel Brooks "Spaceballs" for a few laughs in that sci-fi genre. Then throw in "Coneheads" for the space genre sci-fi comedy trifecta.

One of my favorite movies. Everything from the cast to the script was pretty perfect. I watched it again about a week ago, and it really holds up well.

I think it's a classic, on par with The Princess Bride.

Do you mean that in it being a satirical film?
Also I forgot about Rainn Wilson
ETA: I agree, iconic film

Rockwell and Shalhoub...minor written characters steal the show.

Same situation; same outcome. First time in a while that a movie had me laughing that much and that loudly in the theater.

Yeah, love this one.
I always laugh at the scene where Tim Allen and Sigourney Weaver have to go through the pointless machine, and she calling bullshite on the machines purpose.
