Most obvious and shittiest rip off of Ryan anyone could've ever done. Garbage movie, almost from beginning to end.

Right?!

I think Brad Pitt, Shia Lebouf, and Jon Bernthal are great in everything I see them in. But when this movie ended, I felt like I had been trolled. I remember thinking it was stupendously bad. What am I missing?

Are you all Chinese and Russian trolls and this thread is a psy-op?

The last scene I kept thinking "Take his sidearm!!!" I really thought we would hear a gun shot when he went into the ambulance.

I'm surprised you both dislike it so much but I have seen plenty of fair criticism of the movie especially with regards to the action scenes and how unrealistic they are. To each their own but I enjoyed it.

Maybe it was the way Shia yelled "on the way" every time he fired the tank. Don't know why but I thought that was awesome

Fair enough. Maybe I should watch it again. It ticks all the boxes for a movie I should like. Could have been my expectations were to high based on message boards.

I was a M1A2 Abrams tank commander and fought on those bastards for over 20 years.

There is something very unique about going to battle with your tank crew. You are in such close quarters. You sleep next to each other, take a shite next to each other inside the turret, etc.

It's a bond that cannot be explained and it changes you forever. Seriously, forever.

Fury does a great job of showing how a tanker has to live and their camaraderie.

Some of the scenes are ridiculous but that is absolutely how it goes down.

Tank commander gives initial fire command "gunner, sabot tank"

Gunner identifies target "Identify"

Loader arms main gun and gets out of the recoil of the breach and yells "Up"

Tank commander gives gunner permission to engage "fire and adjust"

Gunner pulls trigger and yells "on the way"

The scene where they go into the house with the resident women was awkward, but it made me realize that even American WWII soldiers weren’t the poster boys we all think. There had to have been some pretty disgusting people. You see American soldiers being portrayed as barbarians in some Vietnamese War movies, but not WWII very much. ‘Fury’ kind of shed light on that aspect for me.

I always skip this part. It just goes on for a while and it's uncomfortable. I'm not trashing the scene, it makes sense, but it's a chore on rewatch.

I figured that part had to be real. I was being serious though I really liked it. All of the scenes with the tank crew working together were awesome to watch.

Another scene I liked was when they are taking the city and the German's get hit with what I think was supposed to be a white phosphorous shot and are running out burning. One of the soldiers is about to start shooting when another guy signals him not to shoot and says something like "naw they cooking". Absolutely ruthless.

I just finished a rewatch of this, and I had no idea it was sort of hated by this board (at least partially). I think it’s really good, even the battle scenes. The tank scene in the field is well done and at least seems realistic enough (unless you have some real world knowledge of tanks). And the final battle scene is a little ridiculous, especially the ineptitude of the Germans, but it’s still pretty well done, and believable enough within the framework of the movie (considering they surprise attacked a mostly-walking force of soldiers with very little anti tank weaponry).

I don’t get the hate on this one at all, even the final battle scene.

frickin love this movie. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched the tiger fight scene on YouTube. First time I watched it when it first came out was with my roommate at the time hungover wake and baking with bong bowls we were both sitting Indian style in front of the tv like a couple little kids just absolutely locked in

Love this movie. The acting was phenomenal, and all of the characters had their own moments to show who they were as a team, and show who they were as individuals (the good and the bad).
I honestly don't know how a man that likes war movies couldn't like this movie, key word being movie. It's not a shot for shot remake of WWII playing out on the field. It's a movie.

I will say I didn't like Brad Pitt getting them all killed though.

He knew damn well that they wouldn't have left him behind to fight the SS alone. I get that they all made the decision on their own, but still...they shouldn't have had to.

It was true that the only thing the SHerman tanks had on the Tigers was that they were more maneuverable.
That and the fact that there were a shite ton of them.

Germany produced 492 Tigers

US produced 49,324 Shermans.

The Tiger battle started out well but quickly went to hell when they did the typical movie bullshite of having the tanks maneuvering about 20 feet apart.

Trying to get behind a Tiger was typical with a Sherman, even an Easy 8, but from point blank range they could have penetrated about anywhere.

Battle tactics with tanks include using angles to get the most out of your armor. The Tiger manual instructed them to use the 30 degree angle to the enemy as I recall. Just as shown in the penetration ranges chart above.

The final battle was laughable, but overall I like the movie and will watch it whenever I come across it.

For some reason they cut out the scene
where Brad Pitt's character shares his background and explains his reckless/suicidal behavior.
