Even back in the day, Charisma and Joss were at odds due to her pregnancy. He allegedly called her 'fat', and there's claims he either told her or 'suggested' she abort because it was interfering with the story and filming schedule.

Take such stories / rumors as you want. I can't verify what's real or exaggerated. I also have heard that SMG and Charisma weren't exactly besties during the filming of Buffy, so it's notable that Sarah would come out at least against Joss, if not fully on Charisma's side. And Amber Benson also backs up Charisma's story. I've not heard anyone full on praise Joss of come to his defense. From ANY show.

Yet Joss turn out a superior product tho, I take that as part and parcel of being an actor. They weren't diva or big names then yet. If it was that bad and they had clout they could have left.

Can Joss sue them for defamation? People are becoming looser and looser with terms like “abuse.” These actors never had a real job with an a-hole for a boss and think having an a-hole for a boss should be news. No. Sorry. Deal with it like every other hard working person and shut up. I don’t care if your director / show runner was mean to you.

Being a good person and being a creative genius aren't always in sync. Don't know what Joss actually did, but at least 4 have come forward and decried how he controls the work place. After that, I can't really tell who is right, wrong.

He pretty much was like Kuberick and force them to become better actor. Look at Firefly and his body of work. Actors are being DIVAs now, even the little no name actors.

Michelle Trachtenberg has now accused him of even more vague behavior ("With his not appropriate behavior....very. Not. Appropriate."). Apparently now you don't even need to specify what the person allegedly did. I guess it's a natural outcome of four years of OMB..."He's bad, lock him up"

Trachtenberg, now 35, was 14 when she was cast on Buffy as Sarah Michelle Gellar's little sister Dawn Summers in 2000.

Still vague but . . .

Doesn't a "rule" kind of implicate the rest of the cast and crew?

Is Michelle typing this to be intentionally cryptic, or does she really not have a good grasp at punctuation?

And why is she ASKING if there was a rule that Joss couldn't be alone with a teenaged Michelle in the 3rd person?

" The last. Comment I will make on this. Was. There a rule. Saying. He's not allowed in the room with Michelle again "

Is she trying to write like this for effect ? Is she voice to texting this, and doing a really poor job editing ? I honestly can't tell if she's asking the question to which she already knows, but doesn't want to flat out say it. Weird.

I really hope so. Otherwise, her punctuation is absolutely atrocious.

As for why these things tend to be vague is that saying things a certain way aren't defamation while outright accusing someone of a crime/damaging their reputation can be considered defamation.

And it's not fun to be sued and then trying to find evidence to prove what happened years ago.

To an extent. It was probably the higher ups that knew this after a complaint against Whedon. It also demonstrates why you might not want to get into a legal fight since as far as I know, this was a pretty well hidden secret for YEARS.

I get trying to not come out and say things, or making flat out statements of accusation. But the way she is doing it and the combination of choppy punctuation… It just seems so unnecessarily bizarre. I did note that her and Charisma both use the same language about not wanting to be “ forever “ associated with Joss Whedon.

Might have something to do with the business, and how people perceive actors and their directors, but when I see common words like that being used in the same manner, to convey the same meaning, It almost comes off as scripted.

Over now ?

Nope, not yet. The hits just keep on coming. Former Buffy /Angle / Doll House star Eliza Dushku has come out against Joss and stands with Charisma.

Even FIRFLY writer Jose Molina and Buffy show-runner Marti Noxin have joined the #IstandwithCharisma movement.

Marti Noxon, who served as showrunner on “Buffy” for its final two seasons, voiced support for Carpenter and the other actresses who have spoken out against Whedon.

“I would like to validate what the women of Buffy are saying and support them in telling their story. They deserve to be heard,” she wrote. I understand where Charisma, Amber [Benson], Michelle [Trachtenberg] and all the women who have spoken out are coming from.”

Considering she is associated with Freddie Prinze Jr and, by extension, the late Freddie Prinze Sr, I’m not sure she is great at picking and choosing who she is associated with.

Huh?

So she married a somewhat dorky guy. It shows she's not shallow and that he has game. And they've been together for 2 decades w/kids. Good for them. I think they have lived in NYC as opposed to L.A.

"Casually cruel" is a perfect way of describing Joss. He thought being mean was funny. Making female writers cry during a notes session was especially hysterical. He actually liked to boast about the time he made one writer cry twice in one meeting. #IStandWithCharismaCarpenter

I mean... if he was purposely making people so upset they'd cry and then brag about it b/c he thought it was funny... sorry but IDGAF if he created a lot of content that I really love, Joss can get fricked.

Boss being a bit of a bully. . .

. . .I mean, so?

He gave her a job for what, 12 years?

Joss pushed the metoo silliness. . .now he is crushed by his own monster. #karma

If you're talking Charisma, she was on Buffy as a main character for 3 seasons, and the Angel for 4 seasons.

She basically written out in Angel, but then brought back as sort of a last season guest.

While it may sound like a bit of #MeToo revisionism, he certainly didn't endear himself to the actresses. 5 have come out against him, plus 2 more actors, and a couple of staffers ( show runner and writer ) all stand with Charisma.

The latter 2 I am a bit surprised about, because this goes far beyond ' she said - he said ', or even 'they said'... seems they knew about much of all this and said nothing.

Still, what's lacking is any real hard evidence he did anything beyond be a dikhead. Other than his ex-wife claiming he slept with 'actresses', plural, no real detail I've seen has emerged.

Harvey and Jeffrey got away with stuff for years and years, but someone eventually told.

Whedon fanboys will defend him to the end. He comes from a great family of writers, but the guy's a dick.

And here is the worse side of these things: people complaining if you're not calling out the person being gang-piled (rightly or not).

Buffy fans urge David Boreanaz and Alyson Hannigan to speak up about Joss Whedon claims... as Angel actor wipes his Instagram account
quote:

'The silence from David Boreanaz & Alyson Hannigan is deafening' came one comment on Twitter.

quote:

'interesting response from david boreanaz ! deleting all your insta posts to magnify your silence is a new one ! cool one bro !' one fan wrote on Twitter.

quote:

'He does have a responsibility to his cast mates and the fans. It’s worrying to see him delete his posts too. Now I feel like there’s more to the story.'

quote:

'There is a responsibility here to stand up for what's right and I'd always seen him do so. So why not this time?' another fan mused about Boreanaz on Twitter.

quote:

'Alyson Hannigan remaining quiet amid this Joss Whedon mess is so disappointing, but not surprising. I hope she grows a conscious [sic] eventually and speaks up against Joss and for her fellow actors that were abused by him.' another person chimed in.

Amazing how this seems to always happen; everyone on the show apparently has to come out and publicly castigate the "bad guy" or they're labelled as heartless or complicit.
