You can’t do that, Batman is too big of a draw. The idea has always been that metropolis and Gotham are exact opposites and if you put reeves Batman with Gunns Superman that contrast would be more clear than ever. Again the only problem would be Gunn setting his ego aside to work with Reeves in finding a way for it to be compatible.

The Penguin just received 24 Emmy nominations and people want to throw that universe away so Colin Farrell can get caught by Krypto.

The thing though is he only really interacted with Riddler (and Penguin) who are both not superpowered.

Don’t know if passion is up for TV roles but I’d love him to have a recurring role in The Penguin. Run the best comic book episodes featuring Penguin/Riddler…. There’s so much opportunity for a great series in that world

No, it doesn't work in its own world.

what?

Superman, Batman, Supergirl and Wonder Woman films won’t work?

Peacemaker and Lanterns will be hits. Wonder Woman tv series will be interesting.

Creature commandos is a cartoon.

The only questionable ones are the Authority and maybe booster gold

For the life of me I can't even understand why people like the Reeves/Pattinson Batman. It's just him being emo during an overlong movie where nothing happens for extended periods

The emo hate is just dumb, I'm sorry. "He's got black makeup all around his eyes like some emo kid blah blah blah." Reeves said he was trying to make it as real as possible when he got out of the suit. In previous Batman movies you'd have guys that were clearly wearing black makeup under the mask so you can't see their eyes and then they take their mask off and all of a sudden the black makeup is gone. It was simply a "this is what he'd actually look like when he took his mask off." He was going on a based in reality on as much as possible and that was just a minor detail, he wasn't going for an emo look.

overlong movie where nothing happens for extended periods,

I can see a too long gripe. I personally love long movie as long as the movie was good. I could have watched a 4 hour Batman movie as long as it kept me interested the whole time. Not sure what long periods of time where nothing happened was though. At least nothing is popping up in my mind.

Riddler is awful both in motivation and portrayal

If you're looking for motivation similar to a guy wanting to eliminate half the worlds population because he thinks it'll make it a better place and can travel to different universes, then you just tuned in to the wrong movie. That's not the type of bad guy you're going to get in any of these Batman movies.

His motivation was again, based more in reality. He was raised in Wayne Foundation orphanage with awful conditions. So he had animosity towards the Wayne family for his childhood and then he also got to see the contrast of Bruce being orphaned but raised completely opposite in luxury. So he targets Wayne and the elites. Him being able to gain these fringe followers of a crazy online community was one of the better and believable parts of the movie.

I do think the prison scene with Dano was definitely overacted and probably my least favorite part of the movie. It was like he was reenacting the church scene from There Will be Blood.

quote:

ridiculous w/how he instantly solves every riddle in ways that would make Arthur Conan Doyle roll his eyes.

I can see that. But honestly I always thought the Riddler's clues were actually a little too simple. Him solving the thumb print was pretty dumb though.

quote:

I also don't get why so many of you want Batman to always be brooding and mad at the world when in the comics he has many friends and is nowhere near perma depressed.

This was just the first movie. It's clear he's going to change. This movie wasn't about playboy Bruce Wayne Batman. He was solely a detective in this and didn't know how to be the playboy yet. That's going to come in the next film I'm sure.

A lot of that already got scrambled. Gunn said they couldn't get an Authority script that worked. There's going to be an animated Robin & Robin movie with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd.

I liked the Riddler in the Batman.

I see a lot of hate for the character/performance there… but I don’t see it. I thought he came off unhinged and weird, which is what I want in that character. Zero problems at all there.

If Batman were acting like a detective and not a superhero on the same level as meta-humans, it would be interesting.

Yes, it would be fine. Think back to the first Ironman film, did you ever imagine seeing him interact with a talking racoon?

There was a Gotham City road sign in the new Superman movie.

I didn't realize they were doing an Arkham Asylum show. Is that supposed to be an adaptation of Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth, the Batman: Arkham Asylum video game, or something else?

I also didn't know a Swamp Thing movie was coming. I'm still pissed they canceled the series on the CW back in 2019. I liked how it leaned more horror

I think the Swamp Thing movie is on hold. James Mangold was supposed to be involved, but he's working on a Star Wars movie. And I don't think there's been word about an Arkham Asylum show since the day it got announced.
