Ferris Beuller's Day Off is only remembered because the casting was so amazingly perfect

Every character from the lead, to Rooney to the Snooty Host were so dead on balls perfect

But man, you replace Broderick with any other actor and it is a bottom tier Hughes film. Matthew had the perfect look, personality, facial emotes, and delivery. Hughes was so great at casting.

Matthew was really good in many other things, but nothing ever framed his ability like Ferris

This only came up because I posted the tribute commercial in another thread

Ben Stein turned this tiny part into a lifetime career

Mia Sara was probably my first crush, it was moreso from Legend though.

My hot take: the movie isn't about Ferris at all. He's not changed at the end. The movie is about Cameron. His character is the one that grows.

Because he faked being catatonic and saw Sloan nekkid.

It almost happened. Hughes really wanted Anthony Michael Hall as Bueller but he turned it down

Hughes originally wanted Anthony Michael Hall to play Ferris. Supposedly Emilio Estevez was supposed to be Cameron, now Charlie’s cameo makes more sense.

Jeannie has some of the best lines:

You’re absolutely right.

John Hughes had nothing to do with the success of this picture.

So it is ALMOST like I am giving Hughes credit for the thing that makes the movie so memorable, dumbcunt
