Chanel spot out today directed by Alfonso Cuaron on location in Shanghai/Hong Kong. An expensive audition tape of sorts.

I assume he’s the leader right now followed by Turner.

I saw a name yesterday mentioned as a in the running of a guy I’d never heard of and don’t even remember his name now. He was on Vikings Valhalla I think

Meet your likely new AMAZON James Bond (the IP is dead)

You'll never get another real James bond film ever again. Amazon will Disney Star Wars it into the ground and completely destroy it and piss on its ashes.

This will likely happen and the demorilzation campaign continues.

At least Pierre is British. And was pretty damn good in Rebel Ridge.

Yea I don't know who that is. I just loved that the guy made the post because he said Amazon was for sure casting a black guy and the IP was dead based on a AI search before the Director was even hired. Thread went on for like 5 pages.

Rebel Ridge was quite badass for a movie about civil asset forfeiture. Pierre is also playing a green lantern in the new HBO series with Kyle Chandler.

My dark horse candidate for Bond is still Pattinson. He is Batman, but he only makes one of those every 10 years, so he isn’t that busy.

Elordi is a good enough actor and has the looks, but two hang ups for me with him being Bond, if that's the case -

1. He's freaking tall. Now, I'm sure they can use visual tricks to not make him seem like a gangly tall guy, but a super tall spy seems counter-intuitive.

2. He comes off like an unathletic, pussy to me. We'll see how they try to hide that. Watching him in fight scenes will be something I'll have to just get used to I guess.

Connery was 6-2 which was pretty tall back then and Elordi moved pretty well in Frankenstein so he might be able to pull it off. He’s the best candidate they’ve put forward so far.

I am still holding out hope for Hiddleston. I kinda thought he cemented his case with "The Night Manager"

I'll say it again: if people haven't seen The Narrow Road to the Deep North, I will invite them to. If that Jacob Elordi plays Bond, then it will be an excellent Bond.

Connery was also a built athlete. Elordi's 6'6" comes off looking like 6'9" because he's a gangly fashion model type looking person.

I'd prefer Callum Turner. He's not as classically good looking as Elordi in the face (ears, lol), but he can pull off smooth, tough, and confident. My wife thinks he's hot because of that.

I won't just not watch it if it's Elordi and I think he's a good actor, just some message board thoughts

Agree, he’s the better actor and he’s already got a fanbase which makes him a better candidate. Turner isn’t in the same league.

He’s almost too oafish and tall for it

Maybe I’m wrong .

I’ll still go see it in theaters

His height does bring a couple of problems.

- finding a bigger henchman that can threaten him in a 1v1 situation

- as a spy and assassin you don’t want to stick out in a crowd

It doesn't matter. They have to reboot it with someone else other than a white guy. The Bond films are played out. It's the same story over/over - save the universe from some type of annhilation with the same British humor and grit. For people who read the books, the movies are so far gone, and have been, it's nothing but caricature. There's no reason to stay within some preconceived notion of Bond or anything else. It has to be British, but that's literally about it at this point. Unless you want the story to be set in the 50s, along the lines of the original stories (or similar in vein). Which would be great, but boring for today's audience.

Cavill I guess is too old, but I really think he was born for the role.

Do you really believe that Denis Villeneuve of all people is going to "tell the same story" again?

Yes, and that’s okay!
