None. Just got out. It wasn’t a pile of crap but not that memorable either. Kids liked it and it was short

Saw one trailer for this this weekend. Mrs. Iwy said she wanted to see it. The trailer didn't even give a release date so we just assumed it wasn't coming out for a while, didn't realize it was already out

I had to Google the name because I have heard absolutely nothing about this movie.

I didn’t even know it existed until this thread.

Their marketing budget must have been $0.

The last Pixar movie i watched was Coco. I actually thought it was pretty good but it doesnt seem like it did very well at the box office either.

What are you talking about? Coco made almost a billion dollars at the box office.

Ah the pixar page was only showing domestic. It only did 210 million domestic compared to Incredibles 2 and toy story 4 doing 600 million and 400 million.

75% of its gross was international compared to Incredibles 2 being 50%

I have absolutely no objection whatsoever to Pixar making movies that are purely for kids.

I'm sure we'll see this and it'll be decent enough. But the previews made it look a little busy/overstimulating.

The thing that I found odd was that there were very few characters, but all of the interactions and story points felt very rushed. So, you are right that it was overstimulating but also had very little substance.

here is my theory on Pixar’s decline. Movies where the characters are mostly human beings aren’t as engaging as bugs/animals/toys/cars/robots etc

I think Pixar is due for some steep change. They've been using the same animation format for 13ish years and have written variations of the same story during that time too. Over the past 15 years, many Pixar films have recycled variations of the “identity crisis” or “self-discovery” arc, often structured around a buddy or road trip formula.

"What is my purpose?" - Inside Out, Soul, Elemental, Onward
"I don't belong here." - Luca, Turning Red, Brave, The Good Dinosaur

These themes are great and are deeply human, which makes them relatable. However, outside of films like Coco and Toy Story 4, they're all basically the same story.

Not to mention other animation studios have really begun pushing the envelope (Illumination, Sony, etc.), so Pixar can't just put out the same crap every year and expect it to be a hit

How does an animated movie have a $120M budget?

Is this a stupid question?

Tech Labor and computing are extremely expensive.

Comment I saw:

Its a space adventure film with aliens and spaceships and explosions and colourful, imaginative imagery...

...They called it "Elio"....

Me - Hey do you want to go see this new film called "Luke"?

You - No, uh.. not really.

The year is 1977 and George Lucas's new Sci Fi adventure film "Luke" fails at the box office.

Brought the kids to see it tonight. This movie was super cute from start to finish. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

This. They hyped Lilo and Snow white for months. I have only seen one Elio trailer and that was before Stitch.

I guess it's not expensive enough to go back to hand drawn art.

I cannot remember seeing ANY promotional material for this movie.

No surprise it's expected to tank.

Which is really sad, because it was an excellent movie with zero messaging that has upset so many people with Disney, myself included.
