It would take time, but it can obviously degrade and eventually fail.

Star Wars should have still been what Marvel replaced them as being. The world's dominant fantasy IP.

RIPIP Marvel

They just couldn't resist destroying what made them a great franchise.

Sad how much importance our culture has put on a bunch of ludicrously fictional people wearing pajamas.

This has long since gotten old. Holy shite.

You know...one of the coolest things about the ages my sons were is that they grew up with the MCU. My oldest is 18 and the youngest 14. That original run of movies from Iron Man through End Game were part of the language we've spoken with each other for their entire childhood. We got to enjoy the movies as a family, their rooms were filled with superhero stuff, and literally for years and years I and my wife would make these elaborate birthday cakes for them which would usually coincide with whichever superhero movie was out near their birthday. My dad and I had lots of things we shared, but other than sports nothing was as consuming as this was...so I really am eternally grateful that I got to share that with them.

And now I'm glad they are older, because as much as I was looking forward to the next phase, I'm just not going to support this stuff any more. I'm sure my paltry dollars will make no difference, but much like LSU Football, I now feel like I can walk away on a high note and realize that they no longer want me as a customer so I should take the hint and stop paying them to entertain me.

‘Oh, it would’ve been so cool to see Dr. Strange,’” says Feige. “But it would have taken away from Wanda, which is what we didn’t want to do. We didn’t want the end of the show to be commoditized to go to the next movie — here’s the white guy, ‘Let me show you how power works.’”

I'm picturing this as a voice-over while the video of "Captain Marvel" fighting to "I'm Just a Girl" is on screen.

the pandering doesn't always bother me if it doesn't affect the story....Ex girl power in End Game was way on the nose but overall didn't affect the story so whatever

the in-universe commercials were going to be messages from Strange to Wanda, and there was also talk of having Cumberbatch appear in one of the ads, head writer Jac Schaeffer says.

This would have been great. So you sacrificed story for woke points? Ridiculous.

You clearly don't understand the majority of people that are huge Marvel fans lean more left to begin with. I guarantee you that Marvel won't fail because a few republicans don't like their "Wokeness"

what percentage of your fanbase gives a shite about this?

Self-sabotage on Feige's part to alter creative direction to satisfy twitter commenters.

This.

Marvel has always been liberal leaning, but they had a good balance (namely Captain America). They are consistently throwing that out of the window at this point. Enough is enough.

I still haven't watched Wandavision or FATWS for feeling this way, and this kind of stuff confirms it for me.

that's a shame because Wanda was awesome and had zero "wokeness" in the actual show

for frick's sake...

The fact that he didn't show up has raised all sorts of issues (this was in New Jersey for God's sake).

It's bad enough they didn't have him noticing this powerful being in Endgame (granted, he was a little pre-occupied), but he surely would have noticed the Hex.

Is he no longer the Sorcerer Supreme?

They literally have Ta Nehisi Coates writing for Captain America at this point...that ship has completely sailed.

But I'm pretty ambivalent to this at this point. As I said...I'm glad I got what I did when I got it. Those movies and that ability to share it with my boys was really magical, and we have rewatched them a ton of times. That can never be taken away. But it does not require me to continue to support something which is openly telling me my very existence is a problem. I can take a hint...I'll just say "thanks for the memories" and go spend my time and money elsewhere. Others are free to do as they please...unlike many I have no desire to force others to do thing.

I mean, this thread points to a very specific story point being left out ONLY because it wasn't woke.

I'm talking about the actual show.

And I imagine that first part of that quote had way more to do with the reasoning than the second.
