I finished watching it last night and I’ll admit it was boring and just objectively a pretty bad movie. It had some funny moments for sure.

I find that McKay thrives on true events movies like TBS or Vice etc.
The movie was so clearly geared towards the climate issues and the whole “don’t look up” narrative from the supposed right wing supporters was so stupid.

I can get the message that they may be trying to convey… we live in a society where there is dangers such as Covid and some people think it’s not real. But the reality about Covid is it’s got a 99% survivability rate.

This movie nuked that with a world killing comet. I just couldn’t bridge that gap.

Also I thought DiCaprio acted well, but his character really sucked. Like wasn’t really redeemable or useful in the movie whatsoever.

Blanchett was super hot though.

I enjoyed it. It was entertaining.

Clearly it is and was meant as a comedy, but I will say some of the comedy was over-the-top given the context, albeit intentional. I know people hate politicians, but I’m pretty certain if a planet-killing comet was about to hit earth people wouldn’t be turning a blind eye, even the dumbest of politicians.

If you’re trying to make a statement about climate change, then the plot needs to surround climate change IMO, then some of the “turn-blind-eye” stupidity/craziness/obliviousness would be more believable/realistic.

That cell phone CEO character was funny. Especially his death prediction for the Prez

We enjoyed it. It's similar (but not in the same league) as Dr. Strangelove in its over-the-top characterizations and absurdist humor. I also got a Mars Attacks! vibe from it.

If you're overly sensitive to any political or social humor you're going to hate it. frick it, it was a great way to spend an evening.

I thought it was entertaining at least. Jonah Hill's character was pretty funny. The end with the whole "don't look up" shite, I felt was pretty political talking shite about republicans, but the social media slant, the political gridlock stuff and categorizing the billionaire tech guys I thought was right on target.

Overall it wasn't great but aside from the last 30 minutes of the movie I thought it was decent and funny. I love doomsday type movies. I love Seeking a friend for the end of the world.

The scene after the credits where they land on the exoplanet and they all pile out of the ship naked is one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time.

What an awful film.

Someone said it earlier, but no one will remember this movie in a month. Weird choice for Leo.

I saw this film much differently than the majority. It's basically the prequel to Idiocracy. Lots of funny quick one liners and references. Even the small jabs like transporting 3 people in the back of a totally empty
military cargo plane. Every scene was a cliché and it wasn't just American culture or politics, it was many. Deservedly.

I laughed my arse off with Jennifer Lawrence not being able to get over how the guy charged them for the free snacks. That and Jonah Hill with the bag over her head were great

Just watched. Enjoyed the movie for what it was. Went a little too hard on the political parody, but was entertaining enough.

I found it funny more than anything. It seemed to be making fun of society as a whole.

Leo's character/acting was so awkward that I found him generally interesting. I don't know that it would have been equally interesting if they had cast some other 40 something chubby guy. The fact that he was cast made it funnier.

At the end of the movie I was confused as to if I liked it for being funny or hated it because it was weird.

I kind of liked that I was confused.

It was an updated Idiocracy. More accurate given the politics/social b.s. going on today. Probably what would really happen if a giant comet was heading this way.
