I like the Jennifer Lawrence character, and her continued questioning of why the general charged for free snacks.

It was so ridiculous, and yet she kept going back there.

It was a twisted dark version of Armageddon. When things go really wrong.

Except armageddon is the secondary storyline in the movie. The state of the absolute absurdness of American society is the main storyline of the entire thing and how much of a joke the media and social media have become.

Look at the tik tok vids of certain individuals and then look at how the White House operated. I think whether by intent or blind luck the movie pointed fingers at one side of the aisle while actually were making fun of the other.

It just wasn’t good.

It’s a poor attempt at satire.

It’s also boring as shite.

This is a massive miss of a movie, it could have been really good IMO, buts it’s attempt to pull of what it wants to be is terrible.

If you choose to sermonize via satire, your product must be some combination of smart, funny, and/or entertaining. Otherwise, just make a documentary like Al Gore did.

Idiocracy, In The Loop, and Veep are examples that worked. This movie does not. It will be totally forgotten within a month. DiCaprio's worst movie since he became a A-Lister.

Exactly.

It’s just not a good movie, no matter what it’s trying to be or not the actual movie is bad.

It's not just America that has an infatuation with these assclowns. Australia, Canada, and most of Europe is just as obsessed with this vapid shite as anyone else.

Didn’t know there were 2 mid/end credit scenes until I read the wiki plot summary

Also: it’s as stacked of a cast as you Can assemble in 2021 just about.

Apart from the obvious criticisms, another indictment of this movie is that it is essentially a failed Leo DiCaprio project. He's the star upon which most of the plot revolves, not a member of an ensemble. And this sucked. I don't know what they were trying to do with him apart from play against type, but it didn't work. Every scene he's just some blob who is stuck between some bad jokes. The stuff that worked best didn't involve him at all.

Leo has a pretty damn solid resume and is about as bona fide as it gets in Hollywood, but this was a very rare swing and a miss for him

Pretty clearly a vanity project for him. Those seldom work out well.

The main reason the movie did not work was because there where no normal characters in the production. There was zero chemistry between the two main characters. Neither have any comedy chops. Hill was the best person in the movie.

It was hard to watch, him playing that character was brutal. Something was off about it, can’t really explain it but his whole deal was a miss.

It was fricking brutal how he could never get out what he was trying to say and he was like that the whole scene for multiple scenes.

I haven’t hated a movie like this in a long time

A movie he had no hand in writing, producing, directing, or contributing anything else creatively to?

The 11th Hour, a climate change doc he produced, co-wrote, and narrated, would much better fit any definition of a "vanity project" for Leo.

Maybe you're the one with dementia? This movie is absurd, but in a delicious way. Like Idiocracy part 2. A perfect indictment of the "covid doesn't exist" morons that have been screaming like girls for the last 2 years. Meryl is your Orange-savior Donald, Jonah Hill with a nice turn as Donnie Jr.
