The Brady Bunch house, which was recently showcased on HGTV reminds me of how much life was better then. A TV series about a separated family, with a live in maid, a patriarch who ran the show, and his nice looking wife. Everyone was happy.

Flash forward to today. The show's are about gay people, freaks, and a degenerate culture. There is no respect for tradition. Don Draper, for example, from Mad Men, is seen as a contemptible fossil from the 60's who drinks and womanizes.

We have to take our culture back.

Who was divorced? The dad was a widower, and the mom’s past marriage was never discussed. Divorce was pretty taboo back then.

you are correct. it was a groundbreaking show. it was the first syndicated series to show a husband and wife together in the same bed. quit tame by today's standards.

Marsha was type cast and was not able to get the acting gigs she wanted after TBB closed down. She became a coke whore. The dad was a butt pirate who died of aids. The mom was banging the eldest son. The youngest daughter did Playboy. The maid was a huge lesbian, but was forced to have a boyfriend.

There were many more hidden things that were not part of the public eye. Just like every other family in the country...

The only thing I ever think about when I hear the Brady Bunch is how incredible the casting for Marcia was in the movie

And yes, I know that's Ben Stiller's wife Christine Taylor.

Yaack. Especially when they brought in that craven little troll Oliver. Couldn't they squeeze another story line out of one of the 6 kids.

If you grew up on the show, the movies were spot-on great.

This is like Dickie Roberts biography.

Greg said he wanted to but never banged his TV Mom. They went on a date once.
You're being overly dramatic as if it was orgy central.

It's cute that you've attached your idea of culture to such crummy pop entertainment. It's even cuter that you think you want it back.

It was a safe take on the "Yours, Mine, and Ours" and "With Six You Get Eggroll" movies of the 60's. Even safer because a merged family of six kids wasn't that huge a deal in 1969. Catholic families down here were doing that without having to divorce and remarry.

It was ABC TGIF before ABC had TGIF. Even the "safe" shows that surrounded it on ABC's Friday night seemed edgy compared to The Brady Bunch (Here Come the Brides, Partridge Family, Odd Couple, Love American Style).

Good afternoon comfort food once it was in reruns.

BTW: The first episode where Jan had noticeable boobs was a big hit the next school day on the playground.
