You do. You started a thread about it and everything.

I think he actually doesn't give a shite. He wants to know if anybody feels the same way. I feel the same as he does. I don't give a shite about the Oscars or movies.

Can’t believe it is still hyped like it is. A total joke.

Wish we had a badge you could wear so that everyone could easily tell how cool you are.

It is amusing that everyone on this board is watching things put out by "Hollywood" and various other countries' versions of Hollywood, so apparently, plenty give a shite.

There all sorts of possible Jump The Shark moments for the Oscars: from Kramer vs Kramer over Apocalypse Now to Going My Way over Double Indemnity.

But for me, the absolute, totally inarguable, completely undeniable Oscar JTS moment was when Get Out won Best Screenplay. That was the instant I realized the old innocuous days of stars patting themselves on the back and comparing women's gowns were gone forever, and The Age of Woke had begun.

Exactly, it's no mystery. Leo DiCaprio's little global warming speech
really kickstarted people's fatigue of the pretentious self congratulatory movie star bullshite. It really went over the top with the predictable and cheap Trump stuff

They need to bring in Ricky Gervais like the Golden Globes did.

George Clooney's smug speech that inspired a South Park episode was way back in 2006.

Used to be that Oscar winners were movies you wanted to watch. Now seems like they’re movies you should avoid.

Netflix and other streaming platforms are eating their lunch.

I used to love the Oscars when it was about filmmaking and not wokeness.

With those viewer numbers, you need to also factor in that there is probably about 100,000,000 more people in the country now compared to 1988.

Which means that 40,000,000 viewers in the 1990 was significant more percent of the whole country than 20,000,000 viewers in the present day.

To put the population argument in perspective, in 1990, the US population was about 252,000,000. And about 40,000,000 people watched the Oscars, or about 15.9% of the US.

In 2020, the US population was about 331,000,000 and about 23,600,000 watched the Oscars, or about 7.1% of the population.
