Who wants to get their mind blown?

I've seen that before but is it a photoshop or actual picture of him when he started?
Posted on 2/13/17 at 10:24 am to baybeefeetz

Any 49 year old man that dyes and spikes their hair pegs the douche meter.

He found a shtick that has effectively set him up for multiple lifetimes. And the show is great.
Why hate on him for it?

My feelings about Guy Fieri are complicated.
I like that he goes to little mom and pop joints and gives them attention. And most of the places he goes to are good.
I read a good profile of him and it seems that he's aware of his image. Like he's getting into the higher end wine business and he was keeping his name off the bottle. He just wanted to put out a good $60 a bottle wine with no hype. He also had some good comments about Anthony Bourdain -- that he's never knocked Bourdain publicly and doesn't think its cool. (I love Bourdain, but Fieri is dead on target about that)
I'm jealous because he has the best job in America.
He dresses like a douchebag and he needs to chill with the "flavor town" stuff. I find it tough to watch the show because of that crap.
I'm sure he and the Smashmouth dude have Eiffel towered a hooker together.

Any irrational dislike that I have for him is probably based on the SNL parody and that scathing review of the New York restaurant that he rented his name to.

Pretty much all of this. I think in his heart of hearts, he has outgrown his persona, but he's sort of stuck with it. But, by all accounts, he's a genuinely good guy and he actually follows up with those restaurants he features on his show. Apparently one had a fire or something, and he quietly helped pay to rebuild their place.
He genuinely wants people to realize there are great dining options in their own backyard in the unlikeliest of places. Don't turn your nose up at the Thai place in that shopping center... it could be awesome. I think that's real valuable advice. Essentially: don't be a snob. Don't judge a book by its cover. Try stuff. Be nice. Local places are the lifeblood of a community.

I find triple skiple diple biple piple dee very entertaining

I think he's great. The hear and goatee are terrible, yes, but the places he covers on the show are the types of places I like to eat when traveling.
He has some corny sayings, but overall seems like a great guy.

I don't know much about him. I just know Carnival Cruise lines used to serve Walmart type hamburger patties. Went on a cruise last month and they had put in Guy's Hamburger joint. So much better! Just shy of Five Guys. I barely went to any buffets cause I couldn't stop going to his place.

He's entertaining for sure, nothing like a good DDD marathon. I can also easily see how people can easily not like him. SNL skit is freaking hilarious.

Parts Unknown and No Reservations are some of the best travel-food shows ever made.
But Bourdain does come off as a giant leftest douche if given the opportunity to condescend to people.
Triple D is just a fun, addictive show if you like food and Americana.

Good burgers on Carnival cruises especially after drinking beer all day

Next time you watch guy, when he tries something he watched get prepared for the first time, he will just list the ingredients he saw go in it. Follows that up with a "dude!" Or "money", and that's the show.
