We could totally tell it was BS because of the way the "guy" overreacted like a little bitch.

I'm really struggling to understand why anyone would be outraged enough about this to create a thread about it.

I mean I’m not a fan of influencers either. But fan is short for fanatical. They fit the bill of a fan so I don’t see the issue here. Brands do this all of the time.

Welcome to the M/TV Board. We had a three page thread because someone was upset that an actor's female wife looked masculine enough to pass as trans.

I made a thread about it because one of the two biggest national trades posted an article criticizing Disney about it and the movie comes out this weekend.

Are you always this slow?

Sorry that I'm not obsessed about what the entertainment industry is doing.

Before last night, I don't recall ever hearing the name "Pedro Pascal".

My wife and I just happened to watch Triple Frontier last night on Netflix, and he was in it. I recognized his face, but I did not know his name.

I haven't seen a Star Wars movie since Revenge of the Sith.

The dude plays in everything. Not sure how a Movie/TV fan could not have heard of him.

That said, PR stunts are very common.

There’s nothing more annoying and shitty than grifter “influencers”

They really are the worst of the worst. Even their reactions look fake.

I was at Disneyland (CA) and Johnny Depp was there dressed as Captain Jack and was popping out in the ride. He was only in there fir maybe an hour, so I missed him. But saw the Facebook posts about it. Also the ride is much better in California than Florida and starts in a Louisiana bayou.

True. Nothing worse than these grifter Twitter influencers convincing idiots to act outraged over an obvious promotional photo op.

I don't get it either, but I'm assuming that Disney has done the math and has verified that spending ~$5k per influencer to show them a good weekend results in some profit. Either that or they know that it's a money loser, but they don't care because they're still getting money from elsewhere to promote the message. But it's definitely not a math error.

I don't think that anyone here is angry about this, just calling it out for how embarrassingly fake it is.

Pascal could have shown up in the Disney World Star Wars park (whatever it's called) wearing the armor, interacted with legitimately surprised park-goers, and it would have been more entertaining and legitimate. Just cut out the parts where he interacts with people that either don't like him or don't know who he is.

Like I said, I RECOGNIZE HIS FACE. I did not know his name, and by sheer coincidence, I had watched Triple Frontier the night before.

And, I HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING FROM THE STAR WARS FRANCHISE SINCE REVENGE OF THE SITH.

Looking now at his screen credits, I have seen:

The Adjustment Bureau

Gladiator II

Triple Frontier

The Last of Us

He has been in a lot of stuff that I have never seen.

How did you watch Last of Us and not know the actors name?
This says you either have a short attention span or horrible memory recollection. Either way.

I never bothered to learn his name. It is as simple as that.
