Did anyone actually want a Han Solo movie? I'm about as avid a Star Wars fan as there is, and I have zero desire for this movie. I didn't understand it when they announced it, and I still don't understand it. If they were smart they'd just scrap this thing and take the loss rather than further damaging the franchise after TLJ debacle.

This movie was all risk no reward. Finding someone to replace Han Solo was an impossible task. That character was too tied to Harrison Ford. On top of that, people weren't clamoring to know the back story of a smuggler. It just didn't make sense.

Rouge One was a pretty good first outing for these anthology movies, but they need to move away from the OT characters. As many Jedi and Sith as there have been in the old EU that could be repackaged into the new canon there is no reason to stay so tied to nostalgia with original story arcs and characters.

Agree on all counts. Move the story forward. Trying to recast Han Solo with someone other than Harrison Ford is a hell of a gamble.

Never thought a Han Solo movie was a good idea because Ford is Han Solo. Can't be replaced even if you are trying to show him as a teenager or 20 something.
They should have given fans a Boba Fett movie. While I think he is the most overrated character in the original trilogy, fans would have loved it. He wears costume so he can be played by anyone. Doesn't ruin the image that fans have of him..

How are they defining bomb? This movie will make at least $500 million worldwide.

The movie cost $200 million before they even reshot over half the film.

Great, Lucasfilm is going to dig the grave for Star Wars. I don't want to put it on Disney because Marvel is kicking arse. This is all on Lucasfilm and their shitty nonsensical plot lines and trying to reinvent things that don't need reinvention.

Retarded to make this movie anyways. Han Solo was a shite head pre ANH.

It would be awful. Don’t let them touch anything anymore.

Furthermore, in this era of prequels and bombs, haven't people realized that there are certain characters that would be cheapened by the removal of the mystique. That even if the movie was good, it would still leave a sour taste in your mouth because it undercut all of the possibilities for the character while not really giving any growth to it.

Not really. Critics are fairly predictable these days.

They need to start leasing certain properties / characters to Netflix and HBO.

They need JEJ to record random Vader speeches before he dies so they can make a Vader/Palpatine movie.

Agreed.

What this franchise needs more than anything is a movie set between RotS and ANH about Darth Vader hunting down the remaining Jedi. They’ve done similar storylines in the Star Wars: Rebels series, and could even use some of those recordings from JEJ. Have Ian McDiarmid reprise as the Emporer and be an ancillary character.

Create some heretofore unknown Jedi like they did with Kanan and have him be the main character. He doesn’t even have to die at the end like they had everyone do in Rogue One, but rather he can fade into oblivion or go into deep hiding like Yoda and Obi-Wan. McGregor could reprise as Obi-Wan and also be a secondary character.

There actually was a pretty bad arse Jedi in the comics that Vader couldn't even beat.

He survived. Would be cool to see a movie around that.

I agree, I feel like most people here could have a better plot
Instead we got the AC VS Lapd slow speed chase, ships falling when they run out of fuel and two ships applying thruster physics in a ion.engine world.

Then making a ship going into hyperspace being that destructive? That bothers me so bad.

I could go back to episode four and just say.
"Ackbar, give me your ship, set five astromech pilots have them warp next too the death star then warp into it. Voila no more death star.

Till Disney unmasks him as Leslie Jones.

However I agree...George shat so hard on Bobba Fett that any movie featuring him would only increase his value to the franchise.

Two things on this

Ford is Solo. This guy will have to do an unbeleivable job at this to be good.

Solos whole character arc in the OT is that he was a shallow, loaner, a-hole, womanizer who finds love and purpose with his new friends and the rebellion. How will they portray Solo while staying true to the OT? As in TLJ if they go to far out people will be legit pissed. Lucasfilm cant afford that right now.

Disney should honestly table this film, especially in the wake of TLJ.

Too many risks, not enough upside. Hell, even the biggest apologist fanboys will caveat that Ford sets the standard and the new guy is just breaking even.

They can't afford to follow TLJ with a huge misfire about one of the most iconic characters in cinema history.

Maybe if they cast people who know how to act instead of turning Star Wars into some kind of broke-arse jewish supremacy universe.

fricking serious? And he sucks. And he got Han Solo.

And let's be honest. He probably sucked a few of their dicks back when he was still young enough to hold their interest.

I feel sorry for Ewan McGregor, and I was excited about the potential of the Obi-Wan movie, but after TLJ I'm hoping every movie they make just fricking tanks. frick Kennedy and Disney for their politicized, SJW agenda-filled, hack-run bullshite that is an intentional middle finger to Star Wars fans and the original trilogy. I also hope someone beats the hell out of Rian Johnson with a porg toy for what he did to Luke and the entire Star Wars mythos/legacy in TLJ.

Filming began on January 30, 2017, at Pinewood Studios...In May 2017, filming moved to the Canary Islands, and Lucasfilm replaced editor Chris Dickens with Pietro Scalia. Lucasfilm also hired an acting coach for Alden Ehrenreich, as they were unhappy with his performance up to that point. On June 20, 2017, citing "creative differences", Lucasfilm and Lord and Miller jointly announced their intent to part ways, with a new director "to be announced soon". It was reported that the directors were fired after Kennedy and Kasdan disagreed with their shooting style; Lord and Miller believed they were hired to make a comedy film, while Lucasfilm was looking for the duo to add "a comedic touch" to the space fantasy.

What a mess.

I’m not going to watch this movie.
