Vader, Obi Wan, Fett, Mandalore standalones would all be good. So would a Clone Wars movie with Anakin and Ewan reprising their roles with cgi to make them younger. Luke's Jedi temple would be good but I have a feeling that's the next cartoon replacing Rebels.

This movie is going to be terrible

quote:Yep. If this movie were to be honest to the character, young Han would not be doing "good guy things" for pretty much the entire movie
Solos whole character arc in the OT is that he was a shallow, loaner, a-hole, womanizer who finds love and purpose with his new friends and the rebellion.

Will be awful. A movie nobody wanted in the first place, where an irreplaceable actor gets replaced. People want stories of jedis, we don’t need this backstory.

which is why i thought a comedy-slant could work
after seeing the forced comedy of TLJ i am quite sure the execs and creators involved lack a quality sense of humor, and the original directors are pretty funny, so i can see where conflict ensued

The shite show that is TLJ, coupled with this impending failure, makes me fully appreciate what JJ Abrams did with TFA. They should give him 100% creative control or at least significant input.

well a lot of the issues of the NT is due to his super safe approach to TFA
he created a ton of constraints on the universe of the NT (that RJ didn't want to follow )and lots of questions (that RJ apparently didn't want to answer). JJ fricked up the scope of the NT in TFA and RJ ignored that and blew it up in TLJ

We have a entire series on this and it’s great. The Clone Wars is on Netflix. It’s 6 seasons worth.

I think the blame in that regard should go not to JJ but to Kathleen Kennedy. She's the one who is supposed to manage the big picture.

Agreed.
What this franchise needs more than anything is a movie set between RotS and ANH about Darth Vader hunting down the remaining Jedi. They’ve done similar storylines in the Star Wars: Rebels series, and could even use some of those recordings from JEJ. Have Ian McDiarmid reprise as the Emporer and be an ancillary character.
Create some heretofore unknown Jedi like they did with Kanan and have him be the main character. He doesn’t even have to die at the end like they had everyone do in Rogue One, but rather he can fade into oblivion or go into deep hiding like Yoda and Obi-Wan. McGregor could reprise as Obi-Wan and also be a secondary character.
Your idea makes far too much sense for what Lucasfilm is doing at the moment.
It is a curious mix of giving the directors too much control, and not enough control at the same time. TLJ ignored the plot hooks and story arc set up by TFA but directors were yanked from Solo because their vision was too far off what Lucasfilm wanted.
The big problem is that Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of the honchos at Lucasfilm don't have a clue of where they are going with the franchise. "We want to make a lot of movies that make a lot of money" is perhaps not the best creative oversight for a franchise. Nothing wrong with make a lot of money mind you, but you'd better have a plan on how to get there.
I would suggest dipping into the The Old Republic games for a trilogy of movies. Most of the setting is fleshed out already. It would be easy to create dramatic conflict out of the Sith and Jedi warring upon one another. Most importantly since it is set thousands of years before the current movies you don't have to worry about annoying fans of the OT by treating their favorite characters like shite. Its just familiar enough that the audience would understand what is going on and just different enough that it wouldn't step on any toes.
This, of course, will never happen because it makes sense.

i didn't want to be called a misogynist this early the day after Christmas
*ETA: in all seriousness, it's clear she has no control if she allowed these 2 movies to be made back to back

I would say she’s succeeding.
TLJ has made a lot of money but I have no interest in it until video because the reaction to it has been divisive to say the least.

Wonder if RJ is going to keep that new trilogy or if they will decide to “part ways”
