I didn't, and have no interest in it, but after being bombarded by ads for it for 3 months was wondering if it was actually good or not? Seems the response is lukewarm at best

I’ll probably give it another episode but it seems really meh. I haven’t read the book so maybe they handled it better but, minor spoilers next, if they need a child test subject and Zach Morris grows a conscience and takes your first target, surely you have a second target to go after. They didn’t even act like she was biologically unique, just alone so less likely to be missed. So to me it’s already starting off on a pretty flawed foundation that wouldn’t have been that hard to fix with better writing.

Agreed. That was pretty dumb. Like, if it’s the foster care system, it’s not hard to find another kid.

I tried to watch the first episode with a friend last night and it started off good, but the whole Mary Sue thing was just too much. We got up until the scene where his ex wife calls him back talking about marrying and being impregnated by another man and my friend was like, “F*** this. I tried. He’s the only good actor in this. I can’t.”

I thought the writing was terrible.

It was pretty bland. Not sure how they take a story about a vampire apocalypse with supposedly deadly government agents going rogue and make it that boring.

The best thing about this show will probably end up being Zach Morris giving Joe Buck shite for not being able to pronounce his name during an NFL playoff game.

I’ll give it a shot, but some things bothered me about the pilot.

Spoilers

The show had aspects of what I thought I would be tuning in for, but then immediately turned into some kind of buddy adventure with the main characters on the run.

The main character was pretty clearly not a good dude. His job was lying to people to make them agree to be experimented on, which he didn’t tell them. Then before the pilot episode is over, he is a hero? I thought they did a poor job with all of this.

The other thing is the kid. She is one of those annoying way smarter than her age kids.

I read the whole trilogy and it was a bit of a chore. I was hoping a visual series would be better but apparently not.

I’ve only read the first book in the series. I’m willing to give it a few more episodes to see if it picks up speed. It appears that Fanning will be the primary vampire in the series, as opposed to it being Babcock in the novel. I actually like the gender switch on Babcock. I hope she isn’t relegated to being just a background character.

I'm giving this one a shot, we'll see how it plays out.

Well, it was the fact that it was a young girl, and he had a young girl of his own that died. I thought that tie in was obvious.

Only reason he changed his mind was that he bonded with the kid after his partner was a total abusive dick. He knew the job involved a kid, and went along with it. Hell, even after his partner beat the kid in public, he still called his boss to help cover that problem of witnesses.

By the way, the first scene when he talks to his ex was terrible. Everything about it was just bad.

Which agent would be more likely to bond with a young girl than the one who lost a young girl?

I read the trilogy as well and I hate myself for it. I honestly can’t believe it was made into a series.

Still in on this show. They are not straying from the book much and doing a good job with it. It is moving at a good pace as well. They are not drawing it out.

Honestly, I'm enjoying it.
I don't expect it to be Lost.
