Netflix -- Sweet Home worth a watch?
Posted by artwarrior20 on 1/26/21 at 12:58 pm
Hey, do you guys know if Sweet Home is worth a watch? I am trying to get a gauge on it as far as if I should watch or not. It's hard to tell from trailers and I didn't watch the webtoon for it, so I have no idea what I'm getting. I would search a bit more on Youtube, but I'm sure I'll find spoilers if I do. I watch a lot of anime and have enjoyed some live actions like Erased, but not sure with this. I know I wouldn't watch it dubbed though since I heard the voices kill the mood.

I liked Max last season but she was a raging bitch this year. I remember thinking last season that it's very difficult to like a new character that is added to a core group yet they pulled it off. They erased all of that good will this year.
I agree. They made 11 pretty bitchy too this season. Like, it was okay for girls to spy on guys and use your powers for that, but it's not okay for him to lie to you about something to avoid dealing with your dad's wrath? Sounds like his reason was more legit than yours, still wrong on both people's parts, but really?
Also, thought the "I make my own rules" thing she said was really accurate to how women think. Especially when they have irrational bitchy friends like Max, but the Duffer brothers are great this season at showing how irresponsible, bitchy and flakey women can be. Not that any of us will ever admit it...

"You people are insufferable. Had they spent more time in the season foreshadowing that she might be gay, you would be complaining about how they turned her sexuality into a major storyline of the season just to push an SJW agenda.
If they announced her as gay from the start, the complaint would be that they made a character gay just to be SJW and have a gay character. "
Look...I don't give a damn that she was gay. I'd rather them have said she was from the get-go. Go all the way or don't waste anyone's time patronizing them or hinting at a relationship that won't happen. Do it or don't. Don't half step. When people complain about people being mad gay out of the blue, it's not usually because they don't think it's necessary, it's usually the way it's presented. At least it's that way for me.
In short, don't do something just to emasculate a charter just to do it, which was my whole point as to why I thought this was poorly done.

Oh and MJ in this movie just sucks arse. Her "relationship" with peter is just forced as hell to me. Give me the real MJ that's actually comic book accurate and actually looks hot instead of this pretender wanna be that's annoying as hell.
Personally, I don't care about any of the MJ's. None of those Mjs are worth a damn anyway. The real Mj exists only in comic books and unfortunately, we're in short supply of that kind of woman these days.
Sam Raimi's MJ was a confused, treacherous flake (nothing like the loyal, passionate, caring, but determined MJ from the comics). No one wants a confused woman that has flaky loyalty.
Zendaya's MJ is too emo for me. It's bland. I don't like it. I feel the real-life Zendaya has more romantic chemistry with Tom Holland than on screen.
The videogame MJ is well...the chicken breast of women. Dry, tasteless, and unsatisfying. She's always getting into shite, getting pissy with Peter for like no good reason, keeps compromising his life because she wants to get into shite, and has the nerve to not want to cook for him? WTF?
I just can't get with any of these MJ's because none of them are real. Like the best love interest, he's had on screen has been Gwen. That's a solid chick.

I agree. That is delusional. There was nothing natural about that transition. Seems like they just made her gay like they made Ellie gay in the Last of Us just so the Joel and Ellie relationship couldn't happen later down the road.
I personally don't care if they just stayed friends. It was already patronizing enough to have to sit through the season watching all the men get their sacs chopped off by crazy, delusional, self-centered women. They just had to go and immaculate Steve because he's a boss.

The whole season blowed to me. Not because the ideas were bad, but the characters were acting dumb for like no reason. They intentionally made all the guys dumbasses and made all the women entitled bitches. But we already know that was all about this woman on set who claimed the Duffer Bros were being "sexist" so you had to make all the men look like Betas. Just...ugh. This feminism shite is getting out of control. They had to ruin a season to save their reputation, so I guess I can't be completely mad at them.

Well, I think her name, Nanno, alludes to the word "Nano" so maybe she is from nowhere as far as I can gather.
re: Alita Battle Angel is pretty damn good

Yeah. I really enjoyed it. It was once seeing a good female lead with male leads portrayed as equals. They didn't have to dumb the men down to ttry to glorify the woman. Also loved that Alita was a feminine woman. Not a woman trying to emulate male masculinity.
It's okay to be feminine and strong with a good attitude. Not bitchy, butch and angry.

Writing this because I didn't see another thread on it.
This movie was pretty good. I'd give it a B+ to an A- for plot. An A+ for charecter development, and a B+ to an A- on the graphics because it wasn't Aquaman. The dialouge was on point, villians were cool, and it was refreshing to see a movie not pushing any agendas other than being a decent person and fighting for the people you love.
Great female herorine with good attitude and is okay with her femininity. Doesn't have to make the guys around her seem like idiots to make her look stronger. And doen't have to act like an angry-wanna-be-strong-the-same-way-a-man-is kinf od girl.
Overall, I would definietly watch it again.
Good stuff.

And Wynona > Ava
Ava's a solid chick. Not to say Wynona isn't, but...she isn't.
Ava's a ride or die, and Wynona's typically overly emotional, ungrateful broad who can't make up her mind about what he wants to do or where she wants to be. The kind of stuff that drives men crazy and not in the good kind of way. Let's not forget she selfishly almost ruined Raylond's career. Literally if his boss didn't give a shite about him, he'd have done time for her.

Awesome. I'll have to look at those.
re: Underrated Scene from a movie that was right on the mark!
Posted by artwarrior20 on 1/31/19 at 8:12 pm to tWildcat
I think people didn't get this scene, but it's great because for once people didn't have to make the hero subpar or less than to boost another character. It was great because it alluded back to Split and then to earlier in the movie. Like, "I know this stuff worked on those other people, but not on me." Really puts both characters on an equal playing field.

The famous scene. Now I didn't watch this movie because it was awful, but when I saw this scene, I thought it was great. I am not sure if people get the significance of the hand on the shoulder. That's what happens when people let you act out to the point where you get delusional enough to think you can treat people, however...Not this time.

Lol. Sounds like you have the same problem as me and my bf right now. Bought too many games we haven't finished yet, so we can't justify buying more right now.
Have God of War, Spiderman, Neir, Beyond Two Souls, Telltales Borderlands and GOT, Super Mario 3d World, Smash Bros, Tomb Raider, LIS 2 and The WAlking Dead sitting on the shelf like... "When are we going to finish all this shite?"

Okay cool. I definitely will check it out.
Have you played 5? And are you going to play the extension for it that’s coming out?

I would but I prefer multiplayer games. I was under the impression that only 5 is multiplayer one. Is 3 a co op?

Life Is Strange.
Brings back god memories.
Or.
FAR Cry 5 because killing cult-loving Hicks with my boyfriend is just awesome. Really helps with bonding. Good times.

I know. I think only strange people like this show. Again really hard to find any reviews in English on it since it’s a Thai show.

Agreed. That was pretty dumb. Like, if it’s the foster care system, it’s not hard to find another kid.
I tried to watch the first episode with a friend last night and it started off good, but the whole Mary Sue thing was just too much. We got up until the scene where his ex wife calls him back talking about marrying and being impregnated by another man and my friend was like, “F*** this. I tried. He’s the only good actor in this. I can’t.”

...They aren't. Sometimes people just...idk...enjoy foreign films and TV shows and can't rave about it on Youtube since most of the audience doesn't speak the same language. Not everyone is looking for monetary gain. Sometimes, they just genuinely like something. But what would I know? I'm actually genuinely interested in the shite I enjoy. (would have posted about video games, but I am not sure there's a section for that)
On another note, I'm really into horror-thrillers, so I binge-watched the show too quickly. Wanted to talk to people on Youtube, but saw there really aren't any people that speak English there since the audience is mainly Thai I think.
