DiCaprio rejects role for Star Wars Episode: VII

One of the most recent rumours, was that Leonardo DiCaprio was being eyed for a role in Star Wars: Episode VII for one of the main roles.
Unfortunately though, it has now been claimed that Leonardo DiCaprio has turned down a role in Star Wars: Episode VII, as he wishes to focus on other projects. One such movie that Leonardo is looking at doing, is the big screen adaptation of the anime of the same name, Robotech.

Meh, he doesn't need the money, didn't he said he wanted to take a break pretty soon? Probably doesn't want to be tied on for 3 movies

if anything it is likely a good move by him. he has dodged roles like this and other superhero-like roles for decades now.

truth.
roles like this can be played by damn near any working actor/actress in Hollywood. 95% of the work is already done for them. for example, hence why a movie like Avatar can hire a scrub like Sam Worthington to be the lead of the movie and still gross nearly 3 billion. an actor like Leo is looking for something more.
I'm sure Paul Walker is available though.

Mistake $$ wise? Yeah cause the $$ this will rake in will be a lot, even if it does suck.
However, it's not like he's killing for $$ or big roles.

I'm honestly not feeling DiCaprio in Star Wars, plus I think he would be an overwhelming presence. They need to cast either up and comings or unknowns in Star Wars.

Doubt it. DiCaprio grew up with Star Wars, so he certainly knows what this would mean for his career, which is really nothing. There's really no risk or real reward for DiCaprio being a part of Star Wars. Lord of the Rings was probably the biggest financial risk of our time, so Connery was probably of a sound mind to not go with it. Plus Connery didn't understand Lord of the Rings and thought it had a ridiculous narrative... which he's actually right, but it's what makes Lord of the Rings work.
