DC developing a villain film with Deathstroke and Bane

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Bane, the super-steroid injecting antagonist who was previously seen in the 2012 Christopher Nolan movie The Dark Knight Rises, and Deathstroke, another popular arch-nemesis in the comic book company’s fold, are being lassoed together and for a movie. The James Gunn and Peter Safran-led DC Studios is developing a script from Matthew Orton, a scribe on the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World movie.
quote:
Bane is a relatively recent addition to Batman’s rogues gallery, with writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan creating him in the early 1990s. The character was born and raised in a prison on a fictional Caribbean isle, a locale that allowed him to not only hone his brute fighting skills but also absorb the teachings from all manner of international criminals. He later was the subject of a horrific steroidal test, an experiment that left him incredibly strong but also addicted to its serums.
Deathstroke was first introduced in 1980 to be a top-tier villain for the Teen Titans, but the super-enhanced master assassin grew to become one of DC’s most popular bad guys, squaring off against Batman and the Justice League, and headlining his own comic title several times.
quote:
But taking villains and making them compelling enough to lead a feature that audiences would want to sit through is a challenge. The first step, of course, is the writing.
Orton’s resume is filled with grounded and gritty work involving criminals and killers. He received his first credit penning Operation Finale, the true-life drama that told of the plan to capture Nazi SS officer Adolf Eichmann, one of the architects of the Holocaust. Chris Weitz directed the feature that starred Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley.

I think Bane in The Dark Knight Rises is highly underrated. I’d be excited to see the same type of Bane writing as the featured character in another movie
He was highly quotable and I think there’s a lot of room for error in acting when the character has that mask on all the time

The Bane character in the DC animated universe is great.

Will this amount to a Great Value version of Deadpool and Wolverine? DC Films are great at doing things second and not as good.
Also, I’ll bet Dave Bautista is cast as Bane.

Deathstroke sure is wearing a lot of seatbelts in that pic. Does his origin story revolve around a car crash?

Bautista is no longer the huge intimidating guy he once was. He's dropped a ton of weight.

It's said that black is 'slimming', but this is ridiculous.
That quick a weight loss isn't normal. He's either got health issues or mental ones. I'm leaning towards the latter.
His 'bad arse' movie character days are behind him for good, regardless.

He’s said before he doesn’t want to keep up the intense weight training anymore, which is why he’s done playing Drax as well.

Weight training? More like ‘roid training.
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 just came out like a year ago. Don’t know when they stopped filming but his weight and muscle mass loss seems pretty significant.

He's 55. Its not like Ironman where they can just CG everything. You need a guy in his early 30s who is jacked.

He’s been losing weight for a year and a half now. He is still 240 lbs. He went to a plant base diet and wants to be slimmer because he feels he’s typed cast. Nothing to do with mental issues. Losing a pound a week is safe and normal. He’s body was starting to break down and this is what he needed.

Agreed. They should have never put Talia in that movie.

So the guy doesn’t want to get typecast for the very thing which got him into movies in the first place?
OK.
OK.

Dude, he’s 55. How much longer can his body hold up? It comes a time when you have to make changes.

Sure it is. As someone who used to live in the gym, staying that muscular is a full time job. Cut back in lifting and shift to cardio and you’ll drop that weight with a quickness, especially at 55 years old.

About the only “celebrity“ who I remember seeing losing weight so drastically was David Pollock. from Georgia. But he did that specifically to look more telegenic plus his playing days were cut short. And despite being 1/2 Bautista's age, it took a few years.
Even older guys than Batista, like Arnold, or Lou , they still remain large for their size. Even if they’re not in “competition“ shape.
