Danny McBride is probably the smartest dumb looking guy I can think of. There's no innate reason beyond his ability to write that he could be a successful actor in Hollywood.

If you made a GI Joe movie that was explicitly and unapologetically pro-American and clear cut good guys vas bad guys, it would like clean up.

Those live action movies they made about 15 years ago were fricking terrible in every way.

The first one was somewhat decent, but the last two were just plain awful, so much wasted opportunity.

I mean he’s also legitimately hilarious on screen in pretty much everything he’s in.

I'm a huge GI Joe and fan I've never been more disappointed by a movie that the first one. I was hoping for nostalgia like I got from Transformers but it was a shite show for me.

He did earn a college degree in film making from UNC... probably has a little something to do with it

Interesting. Just read a very good GQarticle about his favorite books and he lists GI Joe as one. Looks like that may be a pay article but you can view it in apple news if you have an iphone. The books were The Lords of Discipline (awesome), Hollywood Godfather, The Dark Tower (awesome) Pop. 1280 (awesome), The Dying Earth, Blood Meridian (awesome), and the GI Joe Comics. Since I love several of his favorites, I am going to give Hollywood Godfather a read and maybe even the fantasy series Dying Earth. Also, they should make every Jim Thompson book into a movie.

The school (UNC School of the Arts) is actually in my neighborhood in Winston-Salem. He definitely was an old ball amongst odd balls. Most kids there have dreams of making it big in broadway plays, opera and ballet.
