One day, after this franchise is done and done, someone will make a trilogy based on the Zahn trilogy and it will be awesome. This is a dream I have.

Are the movies and TV shows some sort of elaborate tax write off for Disney?

I imagine dozens of people will watch this in Baton Rouge.

You know, I hate this for Daisy Ridley. She’s a cute, sweet young woman with quality acting skills and unfortunately she is forever tied to a role that has absolute shite writing in shite movies.

Kind of wish Netflix or Max would throw a mint at Dave Filoni and let him build his own sci fi franchise from the ground up because he’s definitely that dog in the fiery room at this point.

So true, she seems like a genuinely sweet person.

I think the Filoni craziness is just people hanging on to hope for Star Wars. This guy ran a decent cartoon and a bunch of bad TV shows, he’s not some box office guy who can fix this mess with his talents even if he wasn’t on board with the current direction.

At some point you'd think the bottom line for Disney is to make money

Disney as a whole does make money. These films are just a loss leader to get their messaging out. The board is fine with the cost of getting their messaging infront of their audience.

The shareholders had a chance to change the makeup of the board and chose not to.

You have the wrong perspective.

They aren't in their way. you are in their way.

Bottom line on the quality is you can’t have tourists in charge of a lore based IP. Regardless of all the peripheral factors this is the reason it’s guaranteed to fail.

I predict the audience will be entirely comprised of Youtubers making content

And SammyTiger

And if enough people hate it, SFP will suddenly like it.

Like how is this possible? How do the shareholders keep allowing this? I get that Disney is run by activists but don’t shareholders still want to make money?
You mean they do this for other reasons than to please their audience? I'm watching my Mavs & Boston on ABC and listening to the world's fist female analyst to work an NBA Final. They are changing the world man. You better get on board or get left behind.

They get lots of pats on the back in 2024, and you and I don't.

Eh. No business will be in business for long if they straight up don’t give a shite about the bottom line. Movies were always a gigantic money maker Disney. I find it hard to believe they just have abandoned that completely in favor of liberal messages. Besides, there are ways to get your messaging out while still making money. Not to mention when you put messages that nobody wants to hear into movies that nobody wants to see, I’d argue that you aren’t really getting your messages out to anybody anyway. So that logic doesn’t even make sense.

Now that’s a fair point. Which is why it confuses me that they continue to make stupid business decisions and hemorrhage money on purpose. Like the Star Wars shite. That’s intentional at this point when you keep someone like KK in charge who makes the statements she makes and drives one of the most profitable franchises into the ground. Yet she still has a job for whatever reason. If I were a Disney stakeholder I’d be furious that they aren’t trying to maximize my ROI.
