apparently, it will be based on a true story.

In November 1985, a hunter discovered a dead 175-pound black bear in Chattahoochee National Forest. Nearby was a duffel bag that had originally contained roughly 75 pounds of cocaine; the unfortunate animal had apparently gotten into the blow and overdosed. As the authorities later deduced, the sordid scene lay directly in the Cessna’s flight path.

Is this Ray Liotta's last film?

Heard they are making a sequel called "Cocaine Shark."

It reminds me of the meth-gators in Tennessee (yes this was a real news article): LINK

A police department in Loretto, Tennessee, is asking residents to refrain from flushing drugs, such as methamphetamine, down the toilet to prevent "meth-gators."

It is in fact true. And the bear (in its taxidermied state) resides in Kentucky:
Courier Journal article on Cocaine Bear

Our venerable "Cocaine Bear" is part of the plotline for an upcoming film.
The real-life story is stranger than fiction. Back in 1985, a 175-pound black bear died from a massive cocaine overdose at the indirect hand of one of Kentucky's most notorious drug-smuggling criminals.
The now taxidermized Cocaine Bear has captured the hearts and attention of roadside travelers since he first arrived in Lexington in 2015. The black bear with just enough teeth showing to scare some children has appeared in thousands of selfies, and he's even gotten to be the guest of honor backstage at a Sturgill Simpson concert.

When I owed a dealer money in the 80's, he tried to get me to fly to San Francisco, pick up a kilo, and drive it back in a rental. He said he's pay for the flight & rental, clear my debt ($700), and give me $1000, if I'd do it. I told him no thanks, but was not honest with him about why I wouldn't do it. I told him, I'd seen the chain saw in Scarface, and had watched too many episodes of Miami Vice.
I really was afraid they would have found me like that bear, only in some cheap motel on the way back to Dallas. I'd never bought more than a quarter ounce. There were weekends when I was supposed to be getting it for myself and friends, where I lied to them and said I hadn't hooked up with the guy. No telling what I would have done with a huge amount. I doubt I'd have rated a movie, but an article about it would have made Texas newspapers. It probably happened a few times just that way.
I never did anything but snort it. Stopping that was really hard. I can't imagine trying to stop freebasing or injecting it.

You probably already know this, but Justified did do a storyline of a guy that parachuted out of an airplane back in the 80s with a bunch of coke in the backwoods of Harlan.

Who doesn’t wanna see a coked up bear being an intolerable a-hole to any animal around him?
I’m in.

I certainly wouldn't pay money to see this in a theatre, but I gotta be honest, I'd probably watch it the first day it was released on a streaming platform.

Movie must be pretty bad, if Liotta wanted to die after being in it
