We prefer GGG in our house, but still enjoy Chopped. Our favorite was always Cutthroat Kitchen until they canceled it.

Can't believe people are out here hating on Alex.
Anyone who's seen any of the Judges challenges know that as far as cooking ability goes, there are 4 that stand far above the rest: Alex, Geoffrey, Maneet, and Aarón.
Geoffrey has the most discerning palate, with Alex and Aarón only slightly more forgiving - particularly Alex with any kind of playful comfort food and Aarón with any kind of authentic Mexican dish. Maneet is much kinder.
Nothing makes me happier on Chopped than for 2 Judges to say they liked or disliked a plate then Geoffrey lowers the boom with a simple "I disagree."
Someone asked who Tiffany was earlier, she's the chunky redhead who was on Top Chef ages ago. She literally shits on every single plate as a misplaced attempt at criticism. There's a reason when Geoffrey, Alex, Aarón, etc call out mistakes in a dish that they offer suggestions from the POV of what the chef was attempting. They are also generally good about not beating up good-not-great dishes just to do it.

You forgot Marcus Samuelsson. He has actually won the Battle of the Judges,

I am getting tired of all the "theme" Chopped episodes they run as a bit. "BBQ" "Pizza" "Beat Bobby Flay".
The Beat BF is the most annoying as he already has his own show. Stay in your own lane!

I always root for the whiny “when I had cancer” losers to get eliminated ASAP

used to watch it, not a fan of several of judges, and Ted(host) is a pompous aTm.

I like Alex. Because she doesn't give a frick about your story of loss and redemption. If your shite isn't right, she's telling you.

Also the "Chef BBQ stories" on Netflix is excellent

Yep. Whether it’s iron chef or GGG, when Alex competes, she almost always wins. She’s legit.
And I agree with others on Geoffrey. He’s the type I typically hate, but I can’t hate him. He makes it likable somehow
And yes Tiffany sucks

Used to get a kick out of BBQ Pitmasters don’t think I’ve known anyone more full of himself than Myron, it was entertaining to watch a redneck midget named Stump talk about the “ flavor profile of his meat”

Meanwhile, the Bobby Flay show is a waste of time. I feel like the show is so outrageously fixed.

Ate at her restaurant (Butter) in NY. Was damned good.

I prefer Chopped Junior. Crying kids sets it ahead

Agree that it's a waste of time. Even if you like desserts, the final round just isn't that interesting.
Give us another protein.
Like Hell's Kitchen or Master Chef whenever they had the dessert challenge it was the least interesting part of the show.
Finishing with the dessert in Chopped can make people skip the winner.
The appetizers actually are the most interesting challenge of the show.

I don’t think it’s fixed at all. It would have been leaked by now given the massive number of chefs that have appeared on the show.
I did read that the chefs and Flay get a fair amount of planning time once they hear the ingredient or tell Flay the dish.
But, that’s how Chopped works too. They see the basket, then get 10-15 minutes to walk around the pantry and plan their dish.
There’s a good article about the inner workings of Chopped out there. I’ll try and find it. It was interesting, especially how serious the judges take it. Debates on who should be chopped can go 45 minutes in some cases.

I was just coming here to ask about this. We wanted to go the last time we were in NYC but ran out of time. And doesn't Geoffrey have a restaurant too?

The desserts are pretty boring most times. Seems like it's always ice cream, bread pudding, or a fried type of doughnut or dumpling. The time constraints just don't allow for a legit dessert in that format, especially given the weird basket ingredients.
