Wow!

This movie is a phenomenon!

If true, it makes it the 5th biggest worldwide opening of all time

It's directly before the most anticipated Marvel movie ever, with the hook being it's setting the Avengers finale up. They could've literally filmed her shitting on a toilet for 90 mins and it would've brought in $500 mil.

THere's nothing else in the theaters.

And any half-arse comic-book movie is going to kill overseas.

Black Panther killed.

It's why they keep making them, they always win...even if they suck.

Right now it's a Tyler Perry Movie, a Cartoon movie and Captain Marvel in theaters.

That's your choice in Cinema right now. And international audiences eat this Hollywood fluff up.

Hell they flocked to the fricking Hulk by Ang Lee. They'll flock to any comic-book movie especially the Asian and Anime market.

Some people would’ve paid even more for that.

What’s the story on this movie from those that have seen it? For the audience reviews to be significantly below the critic reviews is really suspicious to me for a movie like this. I heard the critics are eating it up for a bunch of SJW reasons, but that ultimately the movie is not that likable.

Any truth to this?

I thought it was fun. No SJW message really at all. I can see why people thought Larson's performance was wooden but it was clearly a character choice by the director. Her character can definitely branch out in future movies like Thor did. All in all, it was a pretty decent Marvel movie. Middle of the pack but solid. It's worth watching if you want to know the origin of her powers before Endgame.

I agree with this. Given the release dates of Captain Marvel and Endgame, Endgame will release at the movies before Captain Marvel will be available for rent or on DVD. So if you want to be caught up for Endgame, you have to go to the movies to see Captain Marvel. I want to go see Endgame in the theaters. I'm not really dying to see Captain Marvel but I have to in order to see Endgame. Guess I will have to go to theater to see Captain Marvel.

Pretty much this is the main reason it's racking up the numbers. The studio played it smart here. If it were to be released to video before Endgame then I would have waited for that instead.

That cartoon movie is actually a damn solid flick and part of a damn solid series.

All of your weird justification doesn't explain a top 5 opening.

It's a fun movie that has some really fantastic CGI. There is also some solid humor thrown in at places. It's a popcorn action flick that hits the right notes.

Most of those negative audience reviews were fake.

This is absolutely false. The SJW cause they tried to attach to it (Girl Power, gasp!) was pretty much absent. The only social cause was supporting the downtrodden from imperial dominance, and that's been a popular theme in movies since their inception.

Not much. If you like action flicks, you should enjoy this one.

You really don't, though. Her backstory is not at all crucial to seeing Endgame, in my opinion. It's still an entertaining movie, but you don't need to see it if you don't want to.

It's fun to watch some try to spin the reasons for the success of the film after they were screaming about it failing just a few short weeks ago.
