The irony of Civil War was that Tony was supposedly doing all this stuff to try and prevent a major disaster and yet directly caused it by pushing the envelope top hard.

Isn't that what Tony does in just about every one of these movies.

He is basically THE cause of all the bad shite that happens in just about every movie he's in.

Looks good, can't wait to see it. I'm surprised they left Crossbones out of the trailer.

Crossbones is in the background of one of the trailers.

ut I would hope BP is very much a BP movie and doesn't involve a lot of Avengers. He's a strong character without them.

Can you guys give me a brief description about this character? What makes him great? I literally know nothing about him.

Looks badass. I hope they do it in a way where you can really see both sides of the debate. I would not want them to make Iron Man a full-on bad guy.

The first Captain America movie was only okay, but for me Winter Soldier is one of the top 3 in the MCU and I am hoping this will be up there as well.

(Tries to keep expectations reasonable. Already failed.)

I felt the need to post a longer, full speed gif of the scene posted earlier.

These could be either before or after the scene above:

From what I can gather, the government is telling all the superheros to sign up for some registration act and Cap is very much against it. I'm guessing the government also goes after Bucky with the help of Iron Man which would put Cap and Iron Man against each other

But, I'm not a comic reader

Find it interesting that Cap is that helpless. What, he never thought to ad some kind of flashbang type counter measure when locked in close quarters combat?

I mean, he's an alcoholic arms dealer fighting the paragon of American Values- metal don't change that.

Seriously, I wonder if they even try to make it ambiguous whose in the right-- the comics tried but ran into the problem above-- its pretty hard to cast the moral center of your fictional universe as possibly in the wrong when the other side is basically assholes and douchebags-- charming assholes but still assholes.

Looks like it's very much about the registration act, at least some version of that.

Registration Act was always going to be impossible to sell in a universe where the X-Men spent decades fighting against people with powers being registered because they didn't want to get hunted down and killed, it might work better in the MCU-- other than the whole "giant conspiracy to kill people with power and influence" bit from Cap 2.

Some good stuff from the Russos:

quote:

“The Accords are the world jointly trying to govern the Avengers moving forward,” says Joe Russo. “It has to do with the effects of Ultron and Sokovia [the small city that Ultron tried to drop on the Earth from a great height at the end of Age Of Ultron], and New York City [roundly trashed at the end of The Avengers], and Washington D.C. [nearly devastated by falling helicarriers at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier]. Examining the third acts of all the Marvel movies, we’re saying, if you could point to the collateral damage in all those incidents, could you use that against the Avengers to control them?”

quote:

“When people leave the theatre, they’re going to be arguing about who was right in the movie, whether it was Tony, or whether it was Cap,” says Joe Russo. “Tony has a very legitimate argument in the movie that’s a very adult point of view, about culpability, about the Avengers’ responsibility to the world, and the world’s right to have some sort of control over the Avengers. It’s a very complicated emotional arc for Tony Stark in this movie. Downey is utterly amazing in the part. I think he’s taking this character he’s been crafting for years and goes to some very risky places in the movie with the character.”
