re: Cape Fear - Trailer (looks like a legit remake!)

Why are you using this ridiculously disingenuous tactic? It’s abundantly clear that this is the second reiteration of the original Cape Fear. Why keep remaking older projects?
I understand that you want to deflect away from the most obvious thing and try to take the conversation down on a pointless rabbit hole. But I’m not falling for it.

You specifically said “make new stuff”. Most of AppleTV’s content is new stuff, award winning even. The occasional remake of a remake isn’t an issue. Thats not a “rabbit hole”. I was specifically addressing your comment.

And you're repeating the silly tactic by pretending that because some new things have been made, there's no a massive industry of recycling old IPs ?
You're special.

I was down for this until I saw it saw “series” at the end. In no way should this be a series. And because it is, I think I may have to skip it. Not everything has to be a fricking tv show these days. It’s annoying. This should be a movie.
It looks it’s going to go 10 episodes. Not sure how I feel about that either. I don’t mind them making it a miniseries but it needs to be an actual miniseries (2-3 episodes). Supposedly critics were given 8 of the 10 episodes.

It’s not a big deal when it’s a remake of a remake of a remake. From a novel written 70 years ago. The last Cape Fear was made 35 years ago.
Nor when the platform at hand has plenty of new, groundbreaking even, content. It would be a valid critique if that wasn’t the case.
I’m sure you will survive. Better yet, you can just not watch it (but you do that already).

You’re hyper touchy about Apple being singled out (it isn’t) for recycling older content.
I specifically signed up to Apple to watch new content, like Monarch Legacy of Monsters.
Yet here, me posting 3 little words has set you off.

Can someone just tell me if it’s worth watching or not.

So he’s innocent in this one?
Considering how Apple switched up presumed innocent, I could easily see them altering cape fear

Why is it in every modern show that kids are written so terribly? These 2 are insufferable.
Also, no clue how they are going to drag this out for 10 episodes.

The parents are hiding something they did in the past regarding Max. And Max told Anna that he didn't tell anyone something?? I'm thinking that Max Cady will end up being her daughter's father in this version. That's my guess after watching the first 2 episodes.

Looks really good.
Original still holds up, though

Didn't think it was possible to have a worse son than AJ in Sopranos but this guy is in another league.

Amy Adams accent doesn't sound too great either
The family as a whole is 10x better than the Carolina accent everyone on the last season of The White Lotus. Everyone got a kick out of it but it was laughably bad. At least Amy Adams isn't over the top.
Pretty good first episode though, I'll keep watching.

I completely disagree. No way I was ever going to watch a remake of an already great movie that was made in the 90's.
There are things a TV series can bring out from the novel that the movie didn't. I'd much rather a deeper dive into the story than simply the same movie except you change which spouse was the lawyer.

The 1961 version remains the best. Although I thought Scorsese’s remake in 2001 was entertaining, it couldn’t top the original. Why do it again?

Man, RT has this as a low 70s with audience reviews in low 60s
I’m gonna skip this one.

Mitchum makes them both look like posers
I truly believed that character. Didn't have to chew the scenery to scare the shite out of you. It helped that Gregory Peck was the perfect father.
Night of the Hunter too. Great villain.
