By far the worst thing about The Office

The Office is one of my favorite shows of all time. I watch it almost daily and can quote most of it. But for all of the great things about it, there is one thing that was so overly stupid and terrible that it’s painful to watch.
Brian the sound guy. That whole little side storyline was so stupid. They got the point across well enough by showing Jim and Pam fighting about Philly, never in a million years did they need to a) introduce Brian at all, and b) have him crush on Pam and them tease Pam having an affair with him.
Those episodes are on CC right now and man, it’s just so unnecessary. For all of Pam’s bad traits and all the dumb things they had her do, this was by far the most unbelievable. I mean shite, they even had her go to his fricking apartment alone to be his shoulder to cry on and teased an affair. Sure, she didn’t do anything, but there was just no need for it at all. And the absolute worst part of it was how incredibly forced it felt. Like one day she randomly looks off camera and starts talking to him (by name, weirdly). And then he inserts himself several times and has his hands on her and whatnot). While Pam sucks a lot of times, it just felt like a weird left turn for her character and completely out of place, especially coupled with her and Jim fighting about Philly.
Nelly, Andy as manager, Deangelo Vickers, Michael driving into the lake, Andy/Erin on and off, etc. All of those are bad parts of the show, but pale in comparison to the Pam/Brian thing.
Anyway, just saw some of those episodes and had to vent.

I know originally they were going to have Jim cheat on Pam with that one chick but Krasinski was very much against it

Michael was an imbecile so I could buy him driving into a lake because he misinterpreted a GPS direction

Honestly one of my favorite scenes from the show, always funny when Dwight is smarter than Michael

I don't even bother with the last two seasons

Still the absolute worst part of the show, once Robert California takes over we usually just have it on as background noise.

Which proved to be a mistake.
You know that taintstain Pam was gobbling dongs left and right behind his back

I agree. That was my least favorite thing they ever did.

If you're gonna hold it up to realism the mockumentary thing falls apart quickly. It's how you know reality shows are fake. They would have to be running in the interview room all day with new takes and reactions after every little thing that happens.
Over time we almost forget it's supposed to be a mockumentary, the interview segments seem more like just multiple narrators in any story and we suspend our disbelief and go along. They don't focus on that aspect much, the occasional gag of someone hiding from the camera. Bring the cameraman directly into the story and we must confront how ridiculous the notion that this is a real documentary is.

It was pretty stupid, but it’s a fairly insignificant story arc, relative to the entire show’s run, to be mad at.

Didn’t like the Will Ferrell episodes, Nelly or any of the Robert California stuff or when they went to Florida.

They frick up at the end. The show ran too long.
The first half the show is then establishing that Jim loves Pam more than anything and Season 1 Pam literally says the problem with Jim is that he works at Dunder Mifflin.

Pam and Jim after season 3
That’s it. That’s the worst thing about the office . Worse than Andy as manager

Pretty much. I absolutely love seasons 1-5. 6 and 7 dip in quality but are still watchable (mainly because of Michael). The show really doesn’t build to anything after that though the finale is good.

Honestly, that entire show is a chore to watch. Sure it has some good clips, but that is about it. To each his own though.
