wrong question. no matter what, walt's most valuable asset is this:
99.71% pure vs 68% pure
unless there is absolutely no other way, no one in the drug trade would kill him..at least not without a transfer of knowledge first.

That would be noble, and Walt is in no way noble.

perhaps the cancer doesn't kill him, but it runs him down. Like his cancer, he can't run from the world he has created for himself. Both mental and physical torture befall him. He's left with no family, no power, and no respect. The three biggest things Walt really cares about. He is no longer "in control".

If Breaking Bad has taught is anything it's that EVERYBODY is expendable given enough motivation.

Lots of people know the formula. Jesse knows it, Todd knows it and there is even a video of it floating around Mexico!

i bet lydia shows her hand on next week's episode and that will set events in motion.
i think she's going to make gus look like a boy scout either directly or because she simply turns some crazy arse russian or czech hitmen loose on walt and his family...only this time gus isn't there to call the ax-wielding twins off.

clearly not if her yield is only returning 68% pure after walt left...unless he intentionally sabotaged it as insurance.

I think he will come around at the last second. Show will fade to black with him making the ultimate sacrifice in order to save Jesse, showing that there friendship meant the most to him and he valued it above all. He will have a coming to jesus moment
Just my guess. More than likely we are all completely wrong and something ridiculous will happen.

I'm so pissed at myself. I had to go pick up a food order at Chili's with only 10 minutes left in the episode. I figured no way does something amazing happen in the first episode of the season.
Then I get in the discussion thread and see 20 "SHIIIIIIIIIIT" posts.
talk about a bad call on my part.
I still don't know exactly what happened.

im going to go ahead and predict that the Heisenberg mural in the destroyed White house was made in mockery by Declan's crew from S5 or the other cartel, making fun of "say my name." The Remember My Name posters also support this.

How surprising would it be if Walt were to win. I see his family dying along with jesse and Hank but i wouldn't be surprised if he rose to the top of the heap in the drug trade perhaps even partnering up with Lydia again after she possibly has his family murdered. Bad people win all of the time in real life so I don't see why this would be out of bounds in a wonderfully written television series.

yep, house gets defaced at the same time its attacked..and to taunt walt while they're torturing/killing everyone he loves.
just my take.

Pablo Escobar, Osama bin Laden, and Hitler all disagree with you.
Like I said, anything I come up with wont be correct so maybe Walt does win out. I just don't see it at this point.

I really hope not. Once Walt became Heisenberg, any chance of him being good again was lost. He is just a bad person now, and he only still used "doing it all for his family" as an excuse. He practically begged Jesse to believe him about Mike, because otherwise he knows he would have to deal with him too. And he would have.
It wouldn't surprise me if Walt's family is all killed while Walt runs, and then only later comes back for retribution, with the M60. I'm not sure what the ricin will be for, suicide or another murder.
I don't think Walt fakes his death, I think everything comes out about just how horrible he really is, and what you saw from Carol was fear of the monster before her.
great, great episode to start the end!

Carol's face and the status of his old house makes me think that something terrible happened in there... wouldn't surprise me at all if his family is murdered there. The only thing I didn't specifically see was blood in the house.

Did anyone notice that in the preview for the next episode, they showed a shot of Skylar walking while there was like a dying voice of Marie playing in the background?

Prediction:
The model car that the kid was playing with outside of Hank's garage will reappear as a tool of mayhem. It is an idea from an old Clint Eastwood movie (model car used as a bomb). The foreshadow is this: The kid who shot Combo was seemingly randomly riding his bike around in one or two scenes prior to the shooting. Then, Bam!
