I think Braveheart’s overall peak is higher. It’s true peaks are beyond perfect for a historical action film. At the same time, it can drag slightly and feel a bit long
Gladiator, on the other hand, doesn’t have the absolute highs, but it is so well-paced and perfectly executed
Both beyond epic movies

Braveheart is actually good. Gladiator is awful.

I like both movies, but this is very easily Gladiator for me.
Both are awesome, but Gladiator is far more rewatchable IMO. It's also just better in its own right. Better "big" scenes, better story. Braveheart gets the nod for music though...that theme goes hard.
But Braveheart is more "boring" than Gladiator (not that it is boring, but it's just a much slower movie if that makes sense).
If I see Braveheart on TV, I may watch it for a minute. If I see Gladiator on, I will likely watch the rest of it. So this is easily Gladiator for me.

Braveheart is the better film but Gladiator is easier to re-watch

Braveheart is great, but Gladiator is better mainly because of the acting. Russell Crowe is miles ahead of Mel Gibson as an actor, and then throw in one of the best villain performances of all time with Joaquin Phoenix, and I'd say that's enough to put it over Braveheart. You even get some great performances out of Dijmon Hounsou and the guy playing Proximo. Braveheart doesn't really stand out in that regard.

Braveheart easily.
Gladiator is a great movie, but Braveheart is one of the greatest of all time.

That's tough. Both are great films. I'd go with Gladiator since I've watched it more times and have a desire to see it when presented the opportunity. I'm not sure I've seen Braveheart more than once.

I really like both movies about equally except for the battle scenes in "Braveheart" with the actors in the background in some of the shots lightly going through the motions and it's obvious they are just half-assing it.
With that, I'll go with "Gladiator".

Braveheart is a great film, whilst Gladiator is a good movie.
Why can't we just say they are both great? They are.

Gladiator has better actors & acting, better cinematography, better musical score and the better director. Loved both though.
