it’s a movie when it should be a series, also it’s PG-13.
A series on Prime like Fallout could have been outstanding, instead it’s apparently PG-13. Which makes ZERO sense, considering Borderlands and all the craziness that comes with it is one of the best game series ever released. This is looking like the original Mario movie and why Nintendo stayed away from movies for so long.

Made sense when I saw directed by Eli Roth.

There was nothing done correctly with this movie.
The casting is horrendous. The fact that they picked Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis is anger inducing.
Borderlands, one of the most irreverent games of all time, cannot be anything less than R rated.

I saw the poster for the movie and my first thought was this movie was a Hollywood welfare movie (i.e. only made so big names get a big check because the studio knows they are using it as a tax write-off)
I feel bad for fans of the game, but it seemed clear what this movie was.

A low point

Handsome Jack is my favorite villain.
IF they do a sequel, he can only be played by Anthony Jeselnik

Making this PG13 is like making a Deadpool movie PG13.

That’s a shame, great game.
My favorite video game of all time. Use to be tied with Assassin’s Creed until they watered it down into oblivion
Sucks. Ive looked forward to the movie for a couple years

It's coming in at around $8.8 mil opening weekend. This is a massive bomb.

I’ve laughed at exactly as many Kevin Hart jokes as I have Joe Rogans. Despite them both seeming genuinely likable and being worth 9 figures from entertainment

Never played the video game, but even so, the entertainment places I frequent weren't hyping this one damn bit. I think most had no idea this was even coming out. It seemed everyone was caught off guard or just didn't care.
This has Cowboy Bebop vibes. No one involved needed to have been a part of this.

What was the budget on this thing?
100 million?

Wow. 0% from critics? Very shocked by this.

I hate the gameplay of these games. Can't stand it. That said, the Telltale Games series games in this world are hilarious so I imagine the storyline of the mainline games would probably be good if I could stand playing them. I'm shocked they couldn't make a good movie out of this.
The games also have some of the best trailers I've ever seen.

Probably a little more, but not all that much. Certainly Blanchett and Hart weren't cheap. Eli Roth didn't likely command a premium to direct, though, and Lionsgate is known for keeping the budget in check, "Cormanesque" at least for the modern era.
So, the good news is that it can break even in the mid/upper $200m range and may have some legs overseas. Bad news, it won't likely sniff that.

The real reason why Tenacious D ended their tour. This trash movie was scheduled & he needed to stomp down the negativity as much as possible.
Lotta good that did.
And now a YT video to explain more about how bad this disaster is doing at the box office.

I am intrigued. How can it possibly be that bad?

I haven't played any of these but was always curious. I mostly play games that are a little more serious (Mass Effect, Horizon, Destiny, etc.)
But after watching that Best of Tiny Tina video I just hopped on Amazon and bought it for PS4.
What do you hate about the game play?
I have a friend that LOVES Red Dead Redemption II and so I gave it a try. But the game play, especially the shooter mechanics, we so clunky compared to ME, Horizon, or Destiny, that I gave up on it before I even got out of the Prologue.

Did you see The Acolyte?
It’s not hard to screw up a basic story.
