I'm just now finally getting a chance to watch the movie.

I gotta say I loved it. It definitely exceeded my expectations going in. I wouldn't even count this as a superhero movie, but just a solid action movie. I only wish we could have gotten this movie during the correct timeline before IW, or atleast before Endgame.

My only gripe with this has to do with Taskmaster. I enjoyed her in all her scenes, but I hate that they made her just another brainwashed puppet. If Natasha would have tried to use the antidote on her, and she would have responded something to the extent of, "that won't work on me, I'm doing this purely because I want to", and proceeded to kick arse. The movie would have been so much better.

All in all, I would definitely watch again.

Then came last weekend, when Black Widow posted $26.3 million, a 67 percent drop at the box office and the steepest such decline in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brand. Unlike the week before, Disney didn’t tout its online sales numbers, suggesting a similarly sharp fall. The pent-up hype for the first Marvel movie in two years meant a strong start, but Black Widow now looks as though it will struggle to beat the domestic total of the first Captain America film, from 10 years ago.

What initially seemed like the vindication of a dual-release strategy, then, turned out to be a neat example of the strategy’s financial foolishness. After all, if everyone can access a new blockbuster at once, it’s unlikely to hold people’s attention for longer than a week.
Yeah, and they get pirated out the arse too.

Agreed. It would've raised the stakes of Natasha's sacrifice on Vormir, IMO.

Black Widow is free to watch on Disney+ subscription as of yesterday and I finally got to see it.

Very entertaining overall. A little over-the-top but I enjoyed the ride. I enjoyed the family theme/arc/chemistry. In that filler category of MCU movies like Captain Marvel, but way more re-watchable.

Scarlett is what you expect and doesn't disappoint. Florence Pugh/Yelena is a real nice addition to the MCU. I wanna see more. The Stranger Things sheriff/Red Guardian really pulled off a believable performance as a russian superhero. The Taskmaster reveal was kind of predictable and an generic unstoppable baddie overall, so I was drawn to the Red Room boss as the more interesting villain.

Good movie. Go watch it, if you waited like me.

I watched it. It was ok, for a movie I'd previously not seen (which we're in a lull right now).

I guess it does open the door for Yelena to come in and replace Natasha, and maybe the mid-credit scene sorta opens up some stuff for US Agent and Hawkeye.

I kinda felt like that could have been done better.

Also kinda threw me off, for some reason I expected Natasha to be older, like the BW program slowed her aging and she'd have been adult in the 90's. Hell, the Soviet Union dissolved in 91. I never saw her as "Russian", I saw her as "Soviet".

The Red Guardian/Captain America thing... are we going back to the black Cap from F&WS, that nobody ever knew about until that show? Because the only Cap I know went into the freeze in WW2, and didn't thaw out until Avengers. All those references made zero sense... and unless Natasha knew about Black Cap (and never mentioned it before), she'd just have looked at him and said WTF are you talking about?

It's definitely in that filler category as MCU blockbusters go, but I was entertained for 2 hrs & didn't have to pay for a movie ticket or $30 for premium online access back in July. It made the wait worth it.

I'll probably wait on Shang-Chi and the Eternals as well. Now, Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness... I my fork over the dough to see it early. I have a good feeling about that one.

I enjoyed it, it’s mid-tier for sure. I do enjoy the break from cosmic threats and brings but here’s a few of my one liner thoughts.

Florence Pugh is smoke, can’t wait to see more of her

I knew Rachel Weisz was in this, but I still struggled to realize it was her, has she had work done? I know she’s 20 years past The Mummy but damn she looked so different to me.

Red Guardian was worthless, seriously past the first scene the movie would’ve been fine if we never saw him again. The only useful thing he did the entire movie was tell them where Melina was hiding.

Taskmaster was awful. It was so blatantly obvious a man was in that suit the Olga reveal was laughable. The stand in was like 6’ 5” with the slow mo steps thundering, laughable that it was a woman but almost predictable.

The other Widows were pretty bad, that scene in Budapest was awful marksmanship for supposedly the best trained assassins out there.

Also, I don’t know if the “Red Room” organization was fully funded by Russia but either way everybody has tech on the level of Shield. Which makes Shield less impressive to me. If Russia, or some sect of Russia can produce tech in the level of QuinJets or floating carriers then WTF has the rest of the world been doing during the threats of the past 13 years?

Like I said I still liked it, but have quite a few gripes. Pugh was actually more charismatic on screen to me than Scar Jo. Idk if that’s because I’ve seen Scar Jo on screen for 10 years now and was ready for new blood or what. But whatever Pugh has a hand in from now on, I’ll definitely enjoy watching.

I finally got a chance to see this. Really enjoyed. It was actually really funny kind of like ant-man in that way. Sister mom dad all of them cracked me up.

Happy the sister is showing up in Hawkeye series. She was great.

It almost felt like Captain America: winter soldier or at least the closest to that.

I mean how is this not obvious as frick to these shitheads who run companies?

Every Netflix show that comes out is forgotten about a week or so after it drops. Squid Games was MASSIVE.... for a week and now nobody is talking about it anymore.

Game of Thrones would have never become the ratings monster it did for HBO if they didn't do a weekly release that had people talking and theorizing about what would happen next.

It's crazy to me that these people can get into such high power positions and not understand something so obvious.

This as well.

Putting your movies on a streaming service the same day as a theatrical release is just begging for people to pirate the hell out of it.

On top of that, lets say you do a streaming/theatrical combo release but your movie is blocked from being released in China for a few months b/c of how they protect their market. Well you just screwed your movie out of making any money over there b/c w/in a few day's pirates have translated it and out in the world.

Finally got around to watching Black Widow last night. Not a bad back story to the lead up to Infinity wars, if they had just released it before black widows death.

It wasn’t some classic movie with great writing, but it was a fun popcorn movie for a Friday night in winter, with two hot women and a funny fat man. A pathetic mad man wants to rule the world, kind of like Romeo from PJ Mask. It’s funny and the theme to every bond movie.
