You do know that drinks and popcorn are option right? They charge as much as they do for refreshments because idiots like you keep complaining about the prices and yet still keep buying it.

But he's not going to keep buying it. He's going to watch the movie at home instead. Then he gets whatever popcorn and drinks he wants without feeling ripped off.

Solid movie. Is it “necesary”? Probably not. Still a worth a watch and brings in some interesting characters. Definitely better than that Captain Marvel abortion.

I liked it. I really enjoyed Yelena's character and am looking forward to seeing more of her in the future.

They fricking owe us a Budapest movie, though. Maybe we'll find out more in Hawkeye on D+.

Would love a proper Red Guardian prequel, too.

She committed to the accent for the entire movie, proud of her for that.

Give them a modest budget ($50-60 million) and put it on Disney+. They really only need Natasha, Clint, and Nick for it. Maybe Coulson.

I’m sure Yelena will pop up somewhere in there.

I wonder who he actual squared off with in the 80s or if he was really full of shite. We know it wasn’t Steve, but we also know that the government was testing other versions of the super soldier serum throughout the years so who knows who they had in a Captain America uniform throughout the years.

Either I read it here or somewhere else, but it’s definitely mission impossible meets marvel and it’s fun. No PC bullshite, just a lot of fun. Waiting for the end scenes now.

No PC bullshite,

Why is Scarlett in the media talking about it’s a female empowerment movie then?

frick if I know, because the lead and 2 of the 3 secondary roles are women?

I’m telling you it’s not PC crap. It’s a cool origin story that was well done. Marvel meets mission impossible.

Seemed weird to have so many shots of female arse in a story about female child trafficking. The main villain in this movie is a big pedophile. I guess they were going for a Weinstein type guy?

Definitely massive human trafficking subplot, without being heavy-handed about it.

Won't go into spoilers yet, since that's a dick move, with the movie just having released to first audiences 15H ago.

There's part of me that wishes this would've come out before Infinity War/Endgame, but you would have to have a totally different post-credits scene.

I should add, I guess it could be painted as a "female empowerment movie" but it wasn't obnoxious about it.

Hell, there's only 4 male characters with lines, that I can recall, but it was more S2E10 of The Mandalorian "girl power" where there's awesome shite going down and it just happens to be women doing the arse-kicking, rather than some ham-fisted woke statement. (Looking at you, Endgame A-Force shot)

That isn’t wokism bullshite though. If anything, that lends itself to a more conservative position, although I would argue no matter the politics, that’s just being decent.

YES!!!

It’s a fun flick without the politics, IMO. Just so happens it’s a woman kicking arse and it doesn’t feel forced.

Was it just me, or does Yelena's personality remind them of Villanelle from Killing Eve?

Great news for the box office

quote:

FRIDAY AM UPDATE: Refresh for more analysis No, streaming hasn’t killed theatrical just yet, and those exhibitors who’ve gone hungry over the last year and half, received lots of bread last night. Disney/Marvel’s Black Widow kicked off its previews at 5PM earning a huge $13.2M, easily the best preview night to date during the pandemic besting Universal’s F9 ($7.1M) and Paramount’s A Quiet Place Part II ($4.8M).

Black Widow‘s Thursday night is ahead of such Marvel movies as 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp ($11.5M),  2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy ($11.2M) as well as Warner Bros/DC’s Wonder Woman in 2017 ($11M). Thor 3’s Thursday repped 32% of its first Friday ($46.4M) which turned into a $122.7M opening weekend. Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s Thursday night represented 34% of its $33.7M opening day which yielded a $75.8M opening while Guardians of the Galaxy’s Thursday repped a third of its $37.8M Friday for a $94.3M opening. Wonder Woman wound up getting a lift over its opening weekend from its female fanbase who were hungering for the DC superhero’s big screen debut. We’ll see if there’s a similar turnout by females over the weekend for Black Widow. Wonder Woman‘s Thursday made up 29% of its $38.2M Friday, for a $103.2M opening weekend.
