Downvote away but I jumped off the marvel train a while back.

Me too. They have become predictable and boring. Disney's marketing machine will keep the lemmings coming back for more though.

Why is it people only make this complaint for comic based movies but never complain about the lack of risk for movie series like Bond, Bourne, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Fast and Furious or the skillion of other spy/buddy cop/action movies where we know the hero isn't going to die?

Probably because the MCU pumps out one to two films every year while it's been six years since the last Bond film, five years since the last Bourne movie, nine years since the last Die Hard movie, and over 20 years since the last Lethal Weapon movie. I can't speak for the Fast and the Furious franchise as I haven't seen a single one, save 2 Fast 2 Furious, though I'm sure many critics level similar criticisms at the latter franchise as they do the MCU.

Disney may want to rethink the rental at home thing b/c I think they are probably losing a ton of money with people who account share.

Maybe, maybe not. The studio only gets about 50% of the theater ticket cost. After a few weeks that percentage drops even more. So they may have lost out on $4/5 on a few tickets but they made $30 straight to their pockets. Plus they drove you to a monthly subscription on top of the movie. Still unseen how this new reality works out.

So because the last Bond movie was 6 years ago suddenly everyone forgets that James Bond is never going to die or lose to the villain in a Bond movie?

The complaint is you never have to worry about them being in true danger. Well... We know Bond is NEVER going to die. We know the main heroes of buddy cop movies are NEVER going to die. Heroes in an action franchise are NEVER going to die. You might occasionally lose a side character but you aren't going to lose the main guy. It doesn't matter if it's a new movie or a long standing series. The hero always wins in the end, we know going in they are going to win, we know they aren't going to die, and nobody complains about it.

Pretty much the only time the main character ever dies is when an actor no longer wants to do a long running series. They are generally part of an ensemble cast, everyone already knows it's their last movie going in (like w/the deaths of Han Solo or Captain Kirk), and by that point they have already passed the franchise off to different characters and are no longer really the main character of the series.

Can someone just give a damn honest thought or not on whether this film is worth a $10 ticket or not?

Let me guess: this movie ended with a CGI extravaganza with no real weight, feel, or consequence?

Something about the FX in later Marvel movies. A bunch of CGI characters in a brown muddy field going at it and somehow you never really feel anyone's in danger.

I'm taking the fam to see it tomorrow morning, but there's a scene going around Twitter that is shockingly bad CGI. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

I watched at home because my daughter is recovering from a surgery and wasn’t ready to go out to the movies quite yet, but I’d pay 10.00 to watch in a theater.

Black Panther had some bad scenes too. For all the money they have, Marvel isn't very good at it.

It's an over-reliance on CGI too. Look at how bad The Hobbit was vs the LOTR movies.

For me, all the action set pieces in these movies are just filler. I like the world-building and characters they’ve created, so I keep coming back.

They’ll raise the price to $40 or $50.

Still cheaper than the theater, and I think they'd actually lose money if they did this. I would have been less likely to rent this movie if it was more expensive, and still wouldn't have gone to the theater.

I enjoyed it.

First 1/3 of the movie was mindless action that did little to keep my attention. However after the mom & dad got involved it gave the plot stakes & me something to root for.

Also the comedy increased once the dad showed up making it a much more “marvel” movie.

It’s mid-tier for me. Dr. Strange level IMO.

Definitely worth $10

This was way better than Captain Marvel. It didn't do much to move the MCU universe other than to pass the torch onto Yelena. I do think they missed a chance to go a bit grittier with the action as opposed to the over the top CGI. A really good fight with Taskmasker or the widows would have been better than the Red Eoom falling apart for ten minutes. I did send my Ukranian ex a snap of the pockets on the vest bit. It was exactly how she described pointless things
