Total meh. Wasn’t a bad movie but the first time I was underwhelmed by a Marvel flick since Thor 2 and Age of Ultron. Sad to see such a strong streak of movies come to an end. Hopefully Infinity War will be stronger.

Cons: the music. It was fricking all over the place and distracted the hell out of me. One minute it was tribal, the next it seemed like it belonged in an opera and then there was a hip hop vibe to it. It was awful.

The editing also seemed strange and seemed to jump around like crazy, almost like they would cut before some of the actors would finish their lines.

The story was predictable and slow at times. In fact, I feel like the first 20 minuets could have been shortened to 5 or cut entirely. Just slow getting going. The visuals were cool and the performances strong from mostly everyone. Still, one of the very few Marvel flicks I care nothing about seeing again. Forgettable and at times, boring.

-Says the white man

Obviously a white man wouldn't get the subtle nuances of the social commentary.

I enjoyed and liked the movie very much.

Michael B. Jordan stole the show. I really enjoyed Kilmonger's character arc. Dude was fricking ruthless. Killed his girlfriend and Klaue in cold blood. He didn't give a single frick. It was great. He's worked his arse off to one day kill the King of Wakanda and nothing stopped him from getting the chance.

I also loved T'Challa and his arc. It's really cool seeing him grow as well. Early Civil War T'Challa kills Man Ape. He showed mercy on him and was rewarded for it. I think he's a just ruler and IMO Chadwick Boseman nails the emotional moments.

Andy Serkis was awesome as Klaue as were the Dora Milaje.

I liked how Kilmonger was an extreme leftist and I liked how W'Kabi was an extreme righty, both consumed by revenge just like T'Challa was in Civil War except they continued acting on it. The politics doesn't bother me cuz it added to Kilmonger's character.

Only criticisms so far are some of the CGI was spotty at times and the movie was slow at certain points. Understandable tho. They did a great job giving a glimpse of Wakanda but I'd like to see more in future films.

Just got out.

Decidedly Average.

It's not as bad as the second Thor movie, but certainly not a top 10 Marvel movie.

The first act was boring and mostly useless.

So how would you describe the hysteria with Star Wars movies?

Finding some type of cultural significance in a comic book movie set in a fictional place is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen.

Do the Madea movies also get a standing black power tribute?

It’s a symptom of a deeper issue. And shows just how racist an entire generation is becoming.

Over the top. This board hated TLJ for a multitude of reasons but probably mostly Bc of the feminist push. And yet when I saw it at the theater, before ever reading a review here, I was entertained. I liked it, for the most part.

I’m looking forward to seeing Black Panther, but it is downright strange and sad that a comic book movie is a rallying point, as if North Baton Rouge or New Orleans East would be like Wakanda if not for evil white folk.

Yes, because colonialism. And they're dead serious.

I want to know which evil colonists made them eat other humans to absorb their magical properties. Damn you, whitey!
