The rear view mirror music scenes are becoming so overplayed. It’s like they saw it worked a few scenes in season 1 now they need to do it multiple times each episode.
The drawn out flashbacks just feel like space fillers now instead of necessary drama.

They’re trying to show that she’s on a destructive path of drinking and fricking men who she doesn’t know their names .
Agree it’s dumb

i agree with most on here. My wife and I like this show and LOVED S1.
Its beautifully shot and has great acting and soundtrack, but im not sure there is a point to S2 other than introducing a new character.
I wonder if they will do a S3?

I loved Renata's once per episode freakout of stuffing her husbands mouth with tissues once she found out he was banging the nanny for "stress relief"

This whole courtroom scene is a bunch of shite. None of this would ever happen.
Yeah my wife and I were confused about a lot of that. Nicole Kidman's lawyer really is totally worthless. Why on earth wouldn't you put the grandma on the stand in the first place? She's trying to take a mother's kids away and we were just never gonna hear a word from her until Kidman brought it up right before the verdict?

There wasn't a point! Like not even at all. It's one of the most flagrant money grabs I've ever seen. And who knows about a S3. With the way HBO handled Andre Arnold I imagine the only person who could do S3 would be Jean Marc Valee and I doubt he'd be down.

Renata and Gordon were easily the highlight of the season.

I would love a spin off of Gordon and Renata. The whole thing is just so captivating.

Agreed. The premise of them trying to cover up/live with the accident is just dumb and not interesting. The first season had much better intrigue.

It’s just doesn’t make any sense to lie about it. No DA is going to charge someone For man slaughter in that case. There is no way.

Clearly they got together and coached what they were gonna say. I understand Celeste was under duress and freaking out but man it doesn't make any sense that she just sat there and didn't say anything and let them say he tripped.

Both of these thoughts came to mind while watching last nights episode.
Agree with the general sentiment here; season 2 is kind of pointless and 1 was much better.

Do feel like this season is no where as suspenseful as first season- outside of last episodes courtroom scene. Thought that felt more like the first season.
Celeste and her husbands story missing from this season is a huge drawback. The complexity of that whole thing as it came to light was compelling.
Renata’s story and scenes with the husband have stole season 2.
The Mother in law storyline is both good and bad. You can see that she is who probably made her son in to what he was. And can see the manipulative behavior and how it worked on Celeste via Perry. But, it also seems as if celeste would have shut her out a lot sooner recognizing the behavior Perry portrayed.
Witherspoon’s character is still intriguing. To see if she comes out of this still wrapped in her own world or develops is still out for the jury.

I love the characters, love the acting, mostly love the direction/production value.
I’d welcome more seasons as long as they can come up with a good storyline.

To be fair, BLL was never supposed to be anything more than a one-season miniseries. I can see the scramble for a new plot line in an effort to keep the show going and please hungry fans.
Valee himself was quoted as saying...
quote:
There's no reason to make a season two. That was meant to be a one-time deal, and it's finishing in a way where it's for the audience to imagine what can happen. If we do a season two, we'll break that beautiful thing and spoil it"

Only thing I can think of is that they just freaked. Rich women in a judgey society. They didnt want the secrets to come out for kids sake etc.

Season 2 completely went off the rails into cookoo land with this episode IMO.
As mentioned, I like so many characters. I'm so curious to see what happens with Reese and Adam Scott. Renata and her husband are absolute gold, and I can't ever imagine what I'd do if my spouse screwed me like that.
I'd love to see more of them, but unfortunately they kept stringing along this murder storyline. It would've been so much better if they'd just had them tell the story, obviously no DA ever presses charges, but now they have to deal with scorn of going around their fancy neighborhoods and country clubs with them all glaring and whispering about them killing someone.
That's so much better than this nonsense. CGI simulations of how someone would fall being brought-up in a custody case? GTFO

Also, I know Hollywood always sucks with court cases bc they dramatize them up so much, but I mean damn, did Kidman and her attorney do any fvckin prep for this trial?!?!? It's absurd that they hadn't atleast trial run through a mock line of questioning, but hell it looked like they hadn't even prepped the questions that her own attorney was gonna ask her.
And how the fvck were they not going to ever call grandma?!?!
Beyond dumb.

It seems like they're setting it up for her to be the one to break and end up telling Ed what happened.
