Blair Witch vs Omen and Cabin in the Woods vs American Werewolf in London were the two toughest for me. I had to go with the two older ones that I have loved longer in the end.

Voted online, but these had me scratching my head. Do I pick the movie I found the scariest, or the best movie overall?
Silence of the Lambs vs. Event Horizon
Jaws vs Pet Sematary
Alien vs Night of the Living Dead
Jaws is in my top 5 all time. Alien top 20 overall, Silence OTLambs is probably in my top 50. But the movies they're up against are scarier. Do I pick the best overall movie, or scariest?

I am surprised at how many of these I have never seen. Going to use this as a project to knock a bunch of these out bc my son loves these types of movies.
I forgot to link the round of 64 in the OP so I just edited it. If you want to see the full tournament bracket it's linked now.

Vote whichever way you prefer.
My voting is probably leaning towards the classics and some of the ones that fit the more tradition horror genre. For example, I would say that I like Silence of the Lambs a good bit more as just a movie in general over Scream, but if those two were to match up later on I think I'd vote Scream in this particular tournament. But I also am not a fan of supernatural stuff so if Silence of the Lambs went up against Poltergeist I'm going Silence of the Lambs. So just personal preference for you.
Doubt it's going to happen but I'm rooting for a Psycho vs Texas Chainsaw Massacre finale.

Psycho is historically significant and ground breaking and imprinted itself in the minds of an entire generation.
Chainsaw created the slasher drama, and inspired modern horror for decades.
I'd go with Chainsaw. Psycho is probably my 5th favorite Hitchock Movie (1. Rear Window, 2. Vertigo, 3. North By Northwest, 4. Strangers on a Train, 5. Psycho)

Chainsaw is a better horror movie, scarier, and had a more lasting impact.

If The Thing doesn't make the final, this whole thing (no pun intended) is a farce!
Kidding, but I honestly think it might be the perfect horror movie.

The poll is for best horror movie. Not best movie. That’s how I approached it.

I think that's how I'm going to approach it going forward. I like Jaws because it's a time capsule of early 70's America. As a horror movie it has its merits, it built tension, had gore. Was a worldwide blockbuster, deserves credit. But when I think of Jaws, I don't think "horror movie".

Friday the 13th 1980 isn’t even the second best Friday the 13th movie

yes, it's not even in the top 5 for me. Who made this "all-time tournament"? There are countless worthy horror films that are inexplicably off this list.

It is based on the voting thread that ran a few weeks ago, whatever movies got the most votes made the tournament and determined the seeding. All Iwy did was compile in the information, if something didnt make it, its on the people who didnt vote for it.

I’m legit shocked it looks like it’s beating the original TCM. It’s probably not even top 3 in its own franchise.
