I see no issue being open with things that are a part of your life and how they affect you on a daily basis.

Now, that's not the road I would take if I were in that situation. But, I don't see any reason to get stressed about it when someone else does take that route.

Also the fact that her coworker noticed and assumed she was. Its not like thats the only person she is gonna run into during her career that will ever notice. Feels easier just to acknowledge it once you learn of it rather than worry about if everyone you work with can tell or not the rest of your career.

I kinda feel bad now. sheesh. Hopefully he gets the help he thinks he can't receive.

What medical background are you basing your "has a mental disability based on facial structure" diagnosis are you working off of?
My guess is the "white person with no visible eyelids" = "mongoloid" street diagnosis from the 1960's.

I posted a pubmed article and a cbs news article; there are plenty out there

Sounds like he’s just another example of an idiot doctor that thinks they know everything because they are an MD, similar to the people in healthcare during Covid

Muh vaccine prevents the spread and you’re killing people!!

At some point, if you’ve gotten this far in life being a successful actress etc, why even get screened? It doesn't add any value other than virtue points.

I enjoy 99% of your posts but you stepped in it on this one. No matter the age, it’s life changing to be correctly diagnosed. Someone could be “successful” but you have no idea how/if they struggled to get where they are and how they may struggle to maintain it.

In your defense, it is very difficult to understand without personal experience with autism or with someone who has it.

My oldest son is on the spectrum. He’s a brilliant kid. Most people wouldn’t notice unless they are around him a lot. Even my parents don’t completely understand, but they’ve seen the stemming and the sometimes awkwardness. People haven’t seen the meltdowns and the isolation that comes from not being neurotypical.

I still don’t understand the day to day that my son faces. He has a perfect ACT score but he would give that up to be able to relate better to his peers. I find that him knowing about his differences helps him, so I understand Bella Ramsey wanting to know about her diagnosis. I’m also happy to see her step out there to show that people on the spectrum can achieve success in fields that most people wouldn’t associate with people with that diagnosis.

Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you should ignore mental health including potentially being autistic not to mention her publicly coming out as such lets the public be more informed about it while not relaying on antiquated stereotypes and gives representation to people with autism and shows that they can be highly successful in areas such as entertainment

I mean, that's a her decision, but it's helpful for people with autism to see someone in the spotlight open about it. Makes them feel less of an outcast.

My 21 year old son's autistic. Pretty "normal" and everything. Logic and social issues.

Doubt he would care anythjng about this.

Gen Z actresses and actors are fricking terrible when it comes to handling criticism about their looks and acting abilities. They’re 100x worse than the previous generation of actors/actresses. Softest, most immature bunch of pussies I’ve ever seen in my life.

I mean the golden age didn’t have social media.

But you know, criticizing Gen Z actresses looks isn’t exactly mature either.

This is ridiculous and shows you know nothing about people on the spectrum.

Ehhh he kinda has a point. The main (maybe even only) reason to get diagnosed is to get services and therapy. Early childhood is the most critical time for intervention, the older you get, the less it helps.

Every sentient human being would stay off social media if they’re smart.

But it does still help. Not sure why someone would not want to make themselves better. Not saying you mean that but it is a strange mentality some people have.

Agreed.

Behavior therapy likely won't help an adult, but perhaps knowing/understanding the diagnosis can be useful for a general mental health clinician or participating in support groups.

The tortured use of pronouns and subject-verb agreement in that article made my head hurt.

I had to read a couple of sentences multiple times, trying to decipher what the writer was trying to say.

As an aside, if Ramsey is autistic, wouldn't the use of "they" as a singular pronoun (with corresponding verbs) drive her ("them?") totally insane?
