I'm thankful that my little girls have zero interest in seeing this, which means I won't have to.

Saw it last night.
Agree with Watson not being able to sing like the lead in a musical should.
Gaston's character was fantastic. I thought he stole the movie because Watson was more or less...meh.
The music, outside of Watson, was outstanding.
And all the hooplah over a gay character was incredibly overblown. It was obvious he was gay but there wasn't some hard political statement being made. It just added that much more humor to the film.

Yeah, the only song I didn't care for was the one the beast sings as Belle is leaving to go get her dad. It was much better in the cartoon as just a painful roar.

This was added to the Broadway production to give beast a "phantom" moment. He doesn't have any solo songs otherwise.
I'm sure Watson's singing is auto tuned to death, but Hathaway is too old for the part. Someone else should have been found though. Frankly, I find Belle to be the most beautiful of the princesses and Watson, though good looking, pales in comparison to some of the Belles that I have seen at WDW.

I liked it. I also though Watson was miscast. It just wasn't there for me with her. But I thought Beast was fine.
I was especially impressed with the music and the performances by Ian McKellen, McGregor and the others. But I did hate some of the goofy stuff at the end with the ending battles.
Overall solid flick.

why did they cast a gay guy (Luke Evans) to play Gaston?

Why did they cast a gay guy (Neil Patrick Harris) to play Barney Stinson?

don't know, knowing he was gay I was never able to buy him as a womanizer

Personally I just thought that made his character funnier.

He wasn't out when they cast him. They were halfway through airing the second season when he came out.

I didn't know he was gay. He didn't come off as gay at all other than kinda looking like Orlando bloom.

I thought that Evermore was awesome. Dan Stevens was fantastic as the Beast. I found Emma Watson's acting to be a bit flat and she lacks the ability to sing as the character should. I wish Audra McDonald would've had a larger part. She has a phenomenal voice. The gay sub plot was practically nonexistent. Overall, I enjoyed it a lot.

Beast is my favorite Disney movie and even I have to admit Jungle Book was a better movie. Watson doesn't have the lungs for Belle. I didn't think I could hate Josh Gad more than I already did. He ruined Labou. It's one thing to make him a gay but a flaming one? Disney also had to shoe-in two interracial couples that weren't interracial in the cartoon. Other than that, I liked it.

1. I won't be preached to by some gay agenda trying to normalize perverse behavior.
Those feelings you have for that "hot guy" at work are ok, man. You don't have to hide anymore.

Emmy Rossum would have made a good Belle. Has the look and some serious pipes.
She's not a big name draw, though. Emma Watson was the right pick in terms of hype.
It's Beauty and the Beast. People are going to see it irregardless if Emma Watson was Belle.
