why did they cast a gay guy (Luke Evans) to play Gaston?
You see, actors generally impersonate other people.
This is like asking why they didn't cast Sasquatch as the Beast.

Hathaway would have been terrible.
She's a big chested, small wasted classically trained singing brunette with big brown eyes and full lips.
Which part of that makes for a bad Belle?

I didn't care for any of the new songs save for Evermore. That was great. I don't know why they didn't include human again. Oh and
for the end scene with Lafou dancing with the guy who enjoyed being turned into a woman by the wardrobe.

Seriously, people are upset over that scene? The movie makes him no more fruity than the cartoon....
Kevin Kline and Evans knock this out, Emma Watson was the weakest character in my opinion.

He wasn't fruity in the cartoon. Just a kiss arse similar to celebrity nut huggers.

I saw it last night and really liked it. 4/5 stars.
It's on track to make $175 million this weekend.

I liked it a lot. Reminded me of being ten and seeing the original.
Great movie. Kids loved it.

Isn't Belle supposed to be French?

Either do an American accent like in the original or do a French one. Dumb of her to talk in her normal British accent.

He was totally fruity in the cartoon, he makes the large eyes at Gaston when spoken to

Virtually every single main actor, with the exception of Ewan McGregor, keeps their native accent.

I didn't care for the flamboyant prolouge with Stanley Tochi hamming it up.

We watched this afternoon. It doesn't hold a candle to the original. Something was just off. I'm thinking it was Emma Watson. They also added too much useless crap to the story. My girls were extremely bored by the end of the film. We left wishing we hadn't taken them to see it at all.
I agree that the "gay scenes" didn't seem gay at all. It's amazing they made such a big deal out of it. If my mother-in-law hadn't screened it for us, we never would have taken our girls to see it until after we could have gotten a chance to watch it without them first (would not happen). I'm not sure why anyone felt led to make a public statement about this movie having "brave" gay scenes in it or anything. Even the scene at the end just seems like 2 idiots ended up dancing with each other instead of with 2 women while everyone was spinning around. Happens in movies all the time. The only reason anyone knows anything gay was going on is because they told us.

Make sure to shelter the frick out of your daughters at all costs so that they're well adjusted and ready for the real world when they hit college

You seem like a moron. I don't shelter my girls from anything, but I'm not taking them to a movie that goes in "brave new" directions in gaydom. The way they made it out, I was expecting there to be a huge gay make-out session going on. Honestly, even if they think that scene is some brave gay scene, my girls were too bored by then to even be paying attention.
The part where the villagers all gang up on Belle for teaching some girl how to read was a little ridiculous, but that's about as liberal soapbox as this one gets.

You seem to not understand what sheltering is. You should probably have this discussion with someone who doesn't put thought into how to raise their children. You'll get farther.

What do you think sheltering is?
Because I think it's exactly what you did.

Are you afraid to discuss your failures as a parent?
