I was thinking the exact same thing earlier. They were playing bars in Hamburg as teens and having wild crowds throng them from an early age. That kind of thing is certain to produce a major ego.

The last part I saw was when Get Back was originating. That was pretty incredible to watch it just come to life out of basically thin air
That part was incredible.

Finished the 1st show. "Hey did you write any songs last night." Yeah ...I Me Mine, Let it Be, Get Back etc...incredible
PS - Yoko is wielder than I thought and I thought she was really weird. How a person could comfortably be the "fifth wheel" while those 4 were creating some of the best music ever. Its quite unbelievable that she wouldn't just sit back from a distance and observe.

That was the amazing part. How many songs they were creating daily. Even Ringo with Octupus' Garden!

I do feel for George wanting to have a voice within the group and essentially being tolerated by Paul.
It's truly a shame they never gave him help, respect or his full due as a songwriter and artist because you could make a case 3 of the Top 10 Beatles songs were his - Weeps, Something, Here Comes The Sun.

I want to agree with that, but IMO George’s songs just weren’t on the same level as J&P’s songs were. Like I said before, when he hit it out of the park he was right there with them. But he had more misses, and even a lot of his songs that made it into albums were weak. I know George is a favorite of a lot of people, but he may be my least favorite song-wise outside of the five or so I listed on the previous page.
For example, while I like For You Blue, it’s not a particularly “good” song IMO. Is it as good as something silly like Maxwell’s Silver Hammer? Sure. But it’s nowhere near the same level as Get Back or Let It Be, One After 909, Winding Road, or I’ve Got a Feeling. It’s nothing more than a catchy little love song really. And George even says something in the same vein about it at the Apple studio. And his best songs (IMO) he didn’t have yet, and ended up on Abbey Road.
Can’t wait to watch the last episode. Either tonight if the LSU game sucks, or tomorrow.

they show the entire rooftop concert in the 3rd episode and it’s really well edited in multi-screen at times showing the cops starting to arrive and the apple staff trying to keep them downstairs...pretty funny
man they nailed those “let it be” final takes, the sound on this is so much better than the clips I’ve seen before. And you get ten camera angles. What a gift this has been. I think the let it be songs are many of their very best ever, and seeing them play the takes that made the album was a thrill

Ditto. Epi 3 is the best
I don’t think I will listen to “Two of Us” again for a lonnnng time, though.

The Yoko shrieking thing has been the worse thing shown so far but I understand why they put it in
In contrast I never thought Linda McCartney was anything to look at , but the minute her golden hair appears on screen she is like a super model compared to that hideous Asian bridge troll that keeps popping up

I mean, I can definitely see why George was so frustrated with John and Paul during those sessions. Paul seemed so deadset on making something different instead of just letting George play...
but damn are those 3 talented as hell. Ringo got less screentime than Yoko and probably about the same screentime as Linda.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

But he didn't even get help. I think that is the shame. The main 2 guys couldn't sit with him and say "Holy shite" or "Meh" when he came to them with anything. Their collaboration seemed only with putting music to lyrics or finding a riff someone had and sticking a song to it.

I think I remember reading that they would help him, even Paul, but it was once their songs had been worked out first. And I agree that’s a shame.
That’s where the hidden microphone recording of Paul and John is so good, because it shows them acknowledging that they dominate George and how they can both be dominating all over when they’re working on their own songs.

that scene of George basically asking John’s permission to make a solo album was pretty brutal. It’s hard not to emphasize with him, especially when he says something like “I could do a George album and that would help keep the Beatles thing going for me”
with them not playing shows and Paul/john bringing in a constant torrent of new songs, the dude had no outlet to work up his stuff. In an alternate universe they could have gone down the path similar to CSNY where they convene every couple years for a new Beatles album and still get to release their solo stuff. Almost exactly what they wound up doing anyway (except Paul)...George and ringo played on John’s solo stuff and vice versa

one more thing about this, with regard to john. During the abbey road sessions the others rejected “cold turkey” for the album. Almost immediately after the final session (which he did not attend), john formed the plastic ono band and released “cold turkey” as a single
and yet, George doing anything similar was out of the question just months earlier. And as we all know, the eventual George solo album wound up being a masterpiece

As a huge Beatles fan did we need another documentary?

Sorry, I love all these songs but only Weeps belongs in that top 3

Old stuffed shirts talking about them? No.
But broken down video with isolated audio that takes the viewer into the studio of them in their prime and still enjoying each other? Sure.
