It is a true-to-the-source-material "comic book" origin story. That's what he is saying.

I also think TFA is criminally underrated.

I'm not sure if he's talking about Captain America or Star Wars...

ETA - yeeeep, he's talking about Star Wars.

Nothing screams underrated like 90 plus rating and being the third highest grossing film of all time.

All Snyder is doing is looking at bullet points, does something irrational to address them, screams "Are you happy now", and then we all get pissed at him again when it's clear he didn't actually listen to us.

Well look at his Superman. Yes, the guy in the bar was a douchebag, but did he deserve to have his truck mangled like that? I'm not so sure. And he wants to work with the government, but he destroys a $2 million dollar satellite for absolutely no reason, when he has the power to solve it another way? He's petty. Kind of like Snyder.

The funny thing, is that Superman doesn't change, if you want to argue that the truck is only because he lacks maturity. Well he still lacks that....at the very end of the movie.

Why don't you either watch it on the big screen or wait til the HD versions come out instead of watching a Korean cam video of it cheap lazy arse.

I brought The First Avenger earlier as one of the perfect origin/comic book movies, but none of the other responses were to me I assume that's the "get a pass as a great film" but I could be wrong.

I had my problems with MoS but those scenes weren't on my list. Seeing the mangled truck and the downed satellite were a lot more entertaining that the trucker finding out that someone had burned a hole in one of his tires or the government realizing that someone had flown up and unplugged one of the wires on their satellite. I don't agree with snapping necks as a part of his learning curve, but I can see a young Superman trashing a truck or satellite.

When you masturbate to your hatred of Nolan, you tend to mix a few scenes together.

They didn't ruin the film, but they encapsulate Snyder's take on Superman, which just isn't a good one (again it has nothing to do with violence, or killing, just the core of his values). And yeah "more entertaining," in that Snyder would go for the smarmy scene as a chuckle rather than saying, "What SHOULD Superman do?"

Not only that, I ETA'd this above:

quote:

The funny thing, is that Superman doesn't change, if you want to argue that the truck is only because he lacks maturity. Well he still lacks that....at the very end of the movie.

That's a big problem for me. I'd take the truck if he as character actually changes, but he doesn't. And maybe Snyder takes it as a point, to I don't know, juxtapose those two scenes "Here, Clark grew as a human and realized that not everything he disagrees with requires brute force to solve." And he gently places the satellite on the ground, unmangled. But nope...he went the same route and didn't care about evolving the character. It's not a big thing, and if the movie were different maybe it wouldn't be an issue, but sometimes small things can reveal quite a bit about a character.

Yeah, he's petty exactly like Snyder. Especially with the drone, Superman destroys it and laughs in their face, despite just being largely responsible for 400,000 deaths, trillions of dollars worth of damage, and probably throwing the world into chaos. Then Doug Stamper comes in and invites Lois to a baseball game, despite the fact that he should be in the fetal position after watching his city getting destroyed by aliens. The degree of disconnection and condescension toward audience is simply comical, especially with the Star Wars quote earlier this week.

Well I didn't know there was anything but cams out there yet, so my bad.

If you can fall asleep watching the force awakens for the first time, you simply didn't care to watch it in the first place B/c you could care less about star wars. The fact that you haven't seen it in theatres tells me you probably were going to have complaints about it.

You know what the worst part about the scene is, it had the perfect set up and opportunity to show you what superman is about. He got he beer poured on his head, got shoved, got made fun of, got a beer thrown at him, but he never raised his own fists. He showed that he's above that. That he's better than that. He won't be dragged down into the muck assholes like the truck driver live in. It would've been a great opportunity for him to be outside and the truck driver apologize. Have a heart to heart and establish Superman as just that. A super man. Better than all of us and who brings out the best in us.

But fricking that dudes life up passive aggressively? That infuriated me. It ruined the character and it made every subsequent action of his that much more deplorable. Then upon second viewing I paid that much more attention to his upbringing and it is an absolutely horrible adaptation of Superman.

That guy is a poor truck driver in a bar at night. His life is probably miserable and shity and the only way he gets by is to drive 18 wheelers. The little enjoyment he gets in life is sipping a cocktail at a bar. And yeah he shouldn't have spanked the waitress, but Superman stopped that.

But think about that dudes life after that: his truck, whatever was in the truck, etc... Is all ruined. He has to call the truck company and most likely get fired and probably fined and loses any deposits of anything he had. And he is also stranded God knows how far from his home in some little town and he has to figure out how to get back and get a new job.

Now I know I'm over thinking things, but that's exactly what good story tellers do. They think out the conclusions and consequences and back stories for even the smallest of side characters. And they don't have to tell you every storyline, but you can tell they've thought them out.

I guarantee you Snyder never gave a passing thought to that side character or how it affects the story. And that's why him and Goyer suck dick as story tellers.

TFA is not a great film, not even close.

It's a good movie, better than what we're used to in the genre as of late. Dawn of the planet of the apes is a great film IMO

ETA: You're talking about star wars right? I thought captain America was garbage. I didn't enjoy it at all, I enjoyed mos

Bite your tongue. Or the Star Wars nerd in me who saw it 4 times in theaters will come through that screen of yours and kick you in the nuts.

I agree it might not be a Godfather type cross genre masterpiece, but it's a phenomenal Star Wars film. And I won't entertain any words to the contrary. Good day.

Holy shite you have to dig really deep to defend that character. It's a fricking movie. Your irrational hatred of Snyder works great for you...just let the rest of us make up our minds on a fictional film.
